i kinda felt like the crossovers weren’t very important and didn’t add anything substantial to the story. i really liked the bonus chapter. HATED that they kept adding new characters when there was already a billion plot lines and characters to keep straight. also hated the character POV shifts mid chapter.. like why.

So. Many. Reveals. Such an awesome ride! This felt like 3 books, so much happened. I’m really not into the main couple being together anymore, but was positively LIVING for Day and Night. ☀️ 🌙. Going to need a full business week to process everything.

i loved this series so much i'm sad to see it end (at least the main trilogy)

this wasn’t my favourite book of the series but it was a fun read and, as usual, i loved the adventure and all the tie-ins and plot twists. and i loved Ruhn. just everything about Ruhn

i’m so sad.. i had really big expectations for this and usually sjm doesn’t let me down (all of her books are rated 5 stars) but this one… no i just don’t get it:( 

i don’t even know how to start this review so let me just sum some things up 

- the dialogue in this book is actually painful to read… i don’t remember sjm her dialogue being this bad actually i don’t remember it being bad at all. it feels like someone else wrote this book btw not sjm. the writing style feels off 
- ths was just so boring and so unlike other sjm books im actually skgnwocanfks like im so sad cause i was so hyped

THIS WAS JUST BAD LIKE TRULY BAD THERES NOT A SINGLE POSITIVE THING I CAN SAY ABOUT THIS BOOK

tiny little positive thing: wyrdkeys were mentioned also lidia being related to aelin LMFAO

I won’t say much cuz if I start I’ll never finish this review. This felt so meh, it seemed like Sarah rushed to write this and put a thousand different things with 0 sense together and I felt like my life was coming to an end every time I picked this book up, really. 

So here’s my conclusion: Lidia and Hypaxia >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> everyone else.





(Sarah if you’re writing the next acotar book like this one, we’ll have a looooooong conversation. I want TOG treatment or I’ll riot).

i don’t even know where to start this. 

first of all, fuck sjm and her zionist ass. such a big fucking deal is made about colonization and the slaughter of innocents and children. and yet. the irony is literally disgusting. i checked this book out of the library and if anyone wants to put themselves through the pain of this book, please do the same. 

anyways. 

i fully only read this for the characters in acotar (my relationship with acotar is NAWT good but i am locked in because of nesta and lucien) and after the first act of the book, i stopped reading lolz! because all of the characters i did read in the first act that are native to the cc universe r so fucking boring and annoying. and lidia is literally manon, rhysand, and aelin mashed together. the only one i like out of all those three is manon. and i did need a trigger warning for the fucked up relationship between pollux and lidia. because that was so fucked. 

sjm just has zero creativity when it comes to motifs and those of the like. she just constantly reuses them. after reading both acotar and tog, just nothing feels like it has significance or impact. like fire, light, dark, shadows, night, stars, death, red hair, and the moon get used TOO liberally as a character defining detail. all of these bitches r the same. 

and the dialogue in this read like fanfiction. and not the good quality kind. i literally cringed whenever bryce put her two cents in during silene’s exposition monologue. like girl. shut the fuck up. you are being embarrassing. 

back to sjm’s actual writing ability, WHY THE FUCK ARE THERE FIVE BILLION POV SWITCHES IN ONE CHAPTER 😭. like maybe i don’t get it because i did not read the first two books, but like. was any of what ithan and co doing important? like at all. and sigrid’s character was literally useless. homegirl was just introduced to die. 

every time the uMbRa mOrTiS was mentioned, all i could think of was the fuckass daredevil dog gif. 


AND every time i read ‘like calls to like’ i want to kill myself. it’s OVERDONE. it’s CHEUGY. 

anyways. i have hit the end of the first act. and i am not reading the rest. goodnight. and may this book burn in hell.

           Someone needs to study SJM’s brain because there’s no way she should be able to write so many books that can make me cry this hard and also change my brain on a fundamental level. Man, this book was everything. It’s going to take until ACOTAR6 is released for me to get over this

Okay, sat on this one a bit. Did think it was 5 stars right after finishing, but the ending does not make up for the muck in the middle. Great book, but it oftentimes felt like SJM lost the characterization of her own characters, especially with Hunt and Bryce’s inner monologues. Like, the two kings just felt evil for no reason (as well as Theia and daughters) in ways that SJM hasn’t really ever explored much before and it…was very lacking. People can obviously just be evil or make bad decisions for no reason, but it all felt very rushed. Maybe it’ll make more sense down the line in another book? Beginning drew me in, middle was VERY slow, ending pulled me back in. The Fendyr heir plotline just kinda felt…pointless. And I’m tired of Tharion just being used as a plot device rather than a fully fleshed out side character! Many of the battles felt too easy, too, compared to the big battles in TOG and ACOTAR which…maybe that means there’s more to come, but would have expected more out of a, you know, group of alien parasite colonists. Hopinggggg the next book is a novella following Tharion!!
