The Artist and the Assassin A Standalone Friends to Enemies to Lovers Fantasy Romance
Reviews

Let me tell you, I am in a fantastic mood. Absolutely adored this book from start to finish. A masterpiece 👌🏽 The Altruist and the Assassin is the third installment in the standalone series The Book of All Things. There is banter between the love interests as well as witty side characters that you would fall in love with. I don't think our enemy deserved the mercy to got to be quite honest but I was really happy with the ending. And boy oh boy, there are so many plot twists as we delve into Rhiain's past. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I can't wait for you all to read it.

“Kiss me,” she whispered against him when he froze. “Kiss me like you did in Parth. Touch me like you wouldn’t in Parth.” “Heart of my heart.” Asterin moaned in her hair, completely undone by her words—by the heavy emotion coating each one as spoken in her tired, breathy voice. “There’s nothing I wouldn’t do for you, Rhiain. Even if it hurt me. Even if it destroyed me.” She reached a wet hand back and slid it along his cheek. “To destroy you would be to destroy us both.” “How I love you, Rhiainach,” he whispered against her ear, moving with her. “How I wish that word was even remotely adequate for what you are to me.” “I don’t need you to find the right words.” Rhiain panted, her mouth parted over his shoulder. “It means so much more when you show me.” First of all, thank you to the author for this ARC. I’m honored to have been a part of this. Okay, so, I really enjoyed this story. This book is part of an interconnected but standalone romantasy series. This was so enjoyable between the humor, side characters and the romance and the writing was intriguing since it’s different from what I’m used to. The FMC, Rhiain, has had scandals surrounding her for a mistake she once made and her life is filled with tragedy. It’s until when her father sends her on a quest that she starts doubting what she believed her whole life in and starts uncovering everything she felt she missed. There is some mystery while Rhiain keeps figuring out everything that has been lacking in her life and revelations of betrayal but between these she finds the courage to do what she needs to do. She finds a love interest that, though conflicted at the beginning, is there for her to understand her past and helps her become who she needs to be. The romance between these two is swoon-worthy, there’s nothing better to describe them. The MMC, Asterin, once he crosses paths with her, he can’t let her go but he can’t also tell her the truth unless she discovers everything by herself. Filled with plot twists (some predictable, others took me by surprise) I recommend these series to anyone who loves romance and fantasy mixed together with just a dash of spice. It does lack a little of world-building and more details in my opinion, but I’m perfectly happy ignoring those since the story was so good. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 🌶🌶 Some of the tropes present: •Fated love •Found family •Age gap You should also check TW to make sure this is your cup of tea ♥️
