This book is mainly a mystery but I was so bored. I don't understand how the two small stories fit into the bigger picture of the book but maybe I'm just stupid. I don't think that either of the two main characters voiced their feelings super well which left me feeling like part of their relationship was missing. I received an arc through netgalley.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review! This is my first in the Dread Penny Society Series, and I loved it! I actually wish I read the others first, but I'll be adding them to my TBR pronto. A marriage of convenience story, Dr. Barnabus saves Gemma from her family through marriage. I absolutely loved Gemma, and while I was less enthused by Barnabus for much of the story, he was still a great character (one who definitely deserved to grovel a little more than he did). It was a fun read and I'm looking forward to reading the others.
