BOOK REVIEW
The Paid Bridesmaid / Sariah Wilson
Rating ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
i picked this book up in canada last november purely based on the cover because it looked like a good vibe and boy was i right. i’m actually mostly disappointed in myself for once again leaving this on my shelf for wayyy too long 😂
in case it’s not already obvious, one of my fave things in romance books is the banter and i was not disappointed. there was sexual tension and although there was no spice in this book, i didn’t miss it. i just enjoyed it for the fun read it was and i really think this was a ‘right book right time’ vibe for me!
the concept of the book was not similar to anything i’ve read before, which i enjoyed and i loved the way the side characters added to the story! i felt like i was part of the wedding and vacationing in hawaii, it drew me in and i wish i could’ve stayed a little while longer 🥹 i’m super keen to check out the Sariah’s other works 🫶🏼

This book made me so incredibly happy and giddy. I loved the innocent flirting and love Camden and Rachel shared. Ugh, such a good love story. Loved this book!

Song for this book💗: I Think He Knows by Taylor Swift Favorite Highlight♥️ “He started pressing kisses against my face, on the delicate skin of my eyelids, my temple, the bridge of my nose. “This is real. You and me. I want this. I want you.”

3.5 stars Very cute but I just have a hard time suspending belief enough to think a couple can fall madly in love after a few days on vacation.

Feels? Yes, there were points it genuinely made me go...you know. Humor? Yes, a lot of good jokes, sarcastic comebacks & it gets stars out of me majorly for being funny. Anything unique about it? Not at all. Just another unrealistically perfect guy, who's also hot. No guys like that don't exist, and thank god they don't because then am sure i would die of embarrassment. Also the only reason Camden appeared as charming as he did bcoz he was hot. And rich. Yes he's a great guy (flawless tbh and that makes me roll my eyes) but like the way he was pushing himself onto Rachel...i mean ok yeah Rachel was interested. But if she wouldn't have been interested? It would've clearly been a case of harrasment i'll give you that.
This has to be the first time that I liked the female lead more than the male lead (yes I don't like unrealistically flawless guys). She was a control freak and a sticker for rules, and yet she had a good sense of humour while also being kind but not in a 'going out of my way too much' or 'being sorry for being myself' way. Ofcourse she did have elements of out stereotypical rom com lead but still there was something about her that made me really like her. I love how she expresses her opinions clearly, telling Camden how she doesn't like camping and standing by that point. She's realistic (to some degree) and her problems are not like "oh am so pretty what should I do" kind of problems.
Overall a pretty descent rom com.

What could possibly go wrong when you’re a bridesmaid for hire? The Paid Bridesmaid had me laughing all the way through and also reminded me why I’m so glad to be out of the events industry. 😂 Rachel Vinson runs a company that provides bridesmaids to any bride willing to pay for the service. It’s a brilliant business plan that fills a void in the wedding industry. But, she has two major rules: all parties must sign an NDA, and her team is not allowed to date wedding guests. So what will happen when she meets a Best Man that has her reconsidering her rules? Reading this book was a fantastic way to start my year! Thank you to the author and to Storygram Tours for providing a copy of The Paid Bridesmaid to me!

This was my first book by Sariah Wilson and eeek! Definitely not the last. This had beautiful story-telling. The characters were the sweetest. The shenanigans were hilarious! Brides-to-be pay Rachel to be their bridesmaid, whether that is because they don’t have close friends, need to even out the number with the groomsmen, or want someone to be their for them while also helping with maintaining the peace in their weddings. Rachel’s business has two important rules: discretion is necessary and no dating anyone from the weddings. Rachel is such a down-to-earth and selfless character. While part of her duties as a paid bridesmaid is to focus on the bride, she goes above and beyond for her clients. If I could get married again, I’d love to hire Rachel and hopefully become friends. Because Rachel and the bride, Sadie, cannot tell anyone they aren’t actually friends and Rachel is simply hired to play a part, there are some things that happen along the way. One of them being the best man, Camden, believing Rachel is out to tank his company. She must be a spy because her story doesn’t align with what he knows of Sadie. But as Camden and Rachel start spending time together, they realize the potential of what they could be together. Camden is truly the sweetest human. The way he took care of Rachel while she got accidentally drunk, the way he wants to succeed in his company for the money to help the woman who raised him, the way he’s so peaceful and always willing to put Rachel first and even wait for her when she says she can’t date him. Their slow-burn relationship was ever so sweet like cotton candy, but so deep and caring and emotional! All in all, it was a beautiful rom-com filled with laughter, friendship, wedding shenanigans, some glamping thrown in, and more.

Highlights

"I know how your heart beats faster when you re close to me. How your mouth goes dry, and you feel like your knees are going to give way. How you can’t wait to see me again. I know how you're feeling because those same things happen to me.’’
This man is killing me slowly!

“I would like to have like, three more pieces of cake but I'm afraid you'll judge me.” He looked perplexed. "Why do you think I'd judge you? I like seeing a woman enjoy herself.” Okay, that was it. I was done. Somebody needed to stamp the word finished on my forehead and just put me to bed.
I’m with Rachel. Someone stamp “finished” on my forehead, because Camden is swoon-worthy. 😍
