Meine Meinung: Als ich #Skandal das erste Mal in der Verlagsvorschau gesehen habe und mir angezogen vom Titel den Klappentext durchgelesen habe, war ich vom ersten Moment an begeistert vom Buch und habe es direkt auf meine Wunschliste gesetzt. Es hat mich direkt alles an Gossip Gitl erinnert und davon wollte ich unbedingt lesen. Eine gefühlte Ewigkeit später habe ich das Buch dann endlich in den Händen gehalten und habe mich direkt in das tolle Cover verliebt.
Anfangs bin ich aber nicht besonders gut ins Buch hineingekommen. Ich kann euch leider nicht einmal einen Grund nennen. Es hat einfach anfangs nicht gefunkt zwischen uns. Erst als dann der #Skandal so wirklich seinen Lauf genommen hat war ich #begeistert. Denn was anfangs wie ein flaches Contemporary Buch erscheint, entwickelt im weiteren Verlauf der Handlung eine unglaubliche Tiefe, die durch das Thema #Cybermobbing erzeugt wird. Lucy war mir dabei direkt sympathisch. Ich bin zwar irgendwie ein ziemliches Fashionopfer. Trotzdem stehe ich total auf Computerspiele, Star Wars und anderes Nerdzeug. Da kommt mir Lucy gerade recht denn sie ist auf jeden Fall genauso nerdig und das hat mir sehr gefallen. Neben Lucy haben mir auch alle anderen Charaktere sehr gut gefallen. Alle haben das gewissen etwas und sind ganz eigen, teilweise aich sehr abgehoben. Aber auf eine gute Art. Auf der Aftershowparty küsst Lucy den Freund ihrer besten Freundin Ellie, in den Lucy schon lange verliebt ist: Cole. Und als das dann auch noch heimlich fotografiert wird und von Lucys Handy aus unzählige peinliche Fotos an Miss Behave, der Gossip Girl von Lavender Oaks, geschickt werden, bricht ein Shitstorm über Lucy herein und scheinbar jeder wendet sich von ihr ab. Wie gesagt wird es erst nach diesem Posten der Fotos so richtig spannend und die ersten Seiten haben mich im Gegensatz dazu eher gelangweilt. Doch dann bekommt das Buch eben durch den Versuch die ganze Sache aufzuklären viel Tiefe und beschäftigt sich so mit dem Thema Cybermobbing, dass man als Leser auch viel darüber nachdenkt.
Der Schreibstil ist sehr angenehm zu lesen, sehr leicht und da Buch eignet sich daher auch dazu, es an heißen Sommertagen zu verschlingen. Jedenfalls dann, wenn ihr bei diesem Wetter auch eher was Leichtes lest. Die Beiträge, die in Blogform von Miss Behave geschrieben wurden, runden das Leseerlebnis noch ab. Mich hat ja schon der Klappentext an Gossip Girl erinnert und Miss Behave schreibt ebenso wie Gossip Girl kleine Tratsch-Blogposts, die zwischen den einzelnen Kapiteln hin nd wieder erscheinen. Wie auch bei Gossip Girl wissen wir nicht, wer Miss Behave ist und das hat dem Buch noch einmal eine andere Fragestellung und ein anderes Thema gegeben, was den Leser ebenfalls ans Buch fesselt. Das Ende ist aufklärend und passt perfekt zu dem Buch. Wenn ihr ein perfektes und glückliches Happy End sucht, seid ihr bei #Skandal wahrscheinlich an der falschen Stelle. Bevor ich euch aber beunruhige: Das Ende ist nicht schlimm oder traurig. Es ist eben nur nicht zu 100% rosarot, was aber eben auch nicht zur Geschichte gepasst hätte. 
Bewertung: #Skandal ist ein toll geschriebenes Jugendbuch, mit tollen Charakteren und einer super Entwicklung, welches ein heute sehr aktuelles Thema spannend und aufklärend behandelt und den Leser zum Nachdenken anregt. Allein den Anfang fand ich ziemlich langweilig und er hat das Buch ein wenig abgewertet. Das ist schade den oft ist der erste Eindruck der entscheidende und der war in dem Fall eher negativ für mich. Daher bekommt #Skandal von mir 4 von 5 Füchschen aber ich geben euch eine absolute Leseempfehlung für das kritische Buch.

I recently read 'The Summer Of Chasing Mermaids' and I absolutely loved it! So I thought I would give this one a shot. There were some good things in this book that I really liked,such as the effects of social media and cyberbullying. But for the most part this book felt kind of meh. I found some of the drama so unnecessary, and the suddenly formed 'bestfriend' level friendships kind of unrealistic.

#scandal was a really interesting book to me. It touched on so many different parts of being a teen today (or what *I* imagine being a teen today is like since those days are LONG past for me) and did it in a way that was neither talking down to them or unrealistically mature for the target age range. It explored social media addiction and the amount of information people put out into public, social media bullying and the real-life fallout from it, friendship, romance, sex and finding yourself. It was real and relatable and didn't pull any punches.

It's difficult to pin down what I enjoyed most about this book because I liked so much of it. I liked Lucy from the very start. She wasn't perfect. She wasn't hopelessly flawed. She was just real. She made mistakes – and yes, broke girl code – but she wasn't the only one. There was enough blame to share here and even the wronged party wasn't completely right. I applaud the way she stood up for herself in the wake of the post-prom scandal. She handled it all gracefully and with snark and sarcasm and – darn it – I respect that.

I wasn't sure how to take Cole at first, but it didn't take long before his true nature was revealed and I was hooked. He was sweet, but not over-the-top swoony. That's not to say he didn't have some seriously swoony moments. He did.

The bond between Lucy and Code was real and emotional and I found it difficult to find fault with either of them for what they did. What I think I loved best is that through everything, Cole stuck by her side and never left her to bear the brunt of the drama herself. Which brings me to the only thing I found really lacking in this book... I wanted MORE of Cole and Lucy together. I know the relationship wasn't the primary focus of the book, but I love romance and I would have loved to see more together time for these two.

#scandal was funny and heartfelt and I just loved so many of the words. Sarah Ockler has a way of making me feel SO MUCH of what her characters are going through and, as an emotional reader, I love that. There were several literal laugh out loud moments. (*cough* "undisciplined vibrators" *cough*) I just found this to be an incredibly satisfying book all in all.

#scandal is only the second of Sarah Ockler's books that I've read. I now see the error in my ways and plan to change this immediately.
