It took me a moment to get into this story, lots of new terms and such to wrap my head around. But once the story really took off, it was hard to put down. I’m very interested in the possibilities of future adventures with these characters, and diving deeper into the mythology of the different factions. Bravo 👏🏻

This was an okay book, but I think it needs work.
The word building and explanations are kind of weak.
It’s never really explained how Anora knows what she knows and she seems to know more and more as the book goes on, despite not knowing anything.
It’s also super convenient that her and her mother end up right where she needs to be, and again is never explained how or why that happens. It’s literally just, “a brochure turned up”.
Also, what’s described in the blurb happens like 60% of the way through the book. Why is it part of the blurb if it happens so late?
Despite that, I did like the twists and turns.
But, as I said, this book needs work.

I See Stars

What am interesting take on the afterlife! I found myself hooked from the very beginning, eager to learn the mythology and lore of the book. Anora is a strong character and it’s nice to see that she is strong from the beginning. Not strong with all these powers out of nowhere. She has to train and learn to be better. If you like slow burn, forbidden romance, with a bit a ghosts and badassery, this one is for you!

           Anora has the gift to see dead people as well as a little something more, after her grandfather passed away she told her mother than she could see dead people. Her mother, after the death of Anora's boyfriend/kidnapper, packs them both up and moves to a new town.

Anora soon finds herself in a different world and finds the pieces of a puzzle as to what she is and who murdered or is plotting to murder who.

The reason I gave When the Star Comes Out the rating is because the pacing of the novel felt off, it'd be slow one minute, then quick and then drop the ball and go back down to a slow pace. The puzzle pieces didn't quite fit together either, they seemed more jumbled together and rushed near the end of the story.

At the end Nora makes demands and they are being negotiated, however I'm still questioning the villains actions, why her previous boyfriend decide to try kidnapping her, and why she didn't demand the coin of her dead grandfather's soul back. 

It was a quick and nice read, the characters are written okay, I liked the change of perspectives, however I didn't get attached to any character and the story felt like it had to end too quickly because it had placed everything out at the beginning.

This series has potential, It's a great idea. Though the love triangle really was annoying and unnecessary. I really liked the concept. I think after reading the Persephone's books shows her growth and how amazing she is. She is definitely a "A" tier writer.
