Scoring with the Wrong Twin

Scoring with the Wrong Twin

Naima Simone2018
Shy, awkward Sophia Cruz has a hard time telling her vivacious identical twin “no.” But when her sister begs her to swap places for a modeling shoot, she caves ... again. Then Zephirin Black walks onto the set. The brooding, aloof, and gorgeous tight end for the Washington Warriors. But she can keep it professional... She has to. Because the adorkable Cruz twin has no luck with guys once they compare her to her sister. After a bad break-up, Zeph hasn’t been big on second chances—and even less with trust. But he finds himself giving please-call-me-by-my-middle-name-Sophia both. The woman he’d dismissed as a spoiled cover model is different from the first time he met her. Quirkier. Funnier. Definitely sexier. What started as one night turns into another...and another...and another... Still, Sophia can’t go on keeping her secret from him. But telling Zeph the truth will mean losing him for good. Each book in the WAGS series is STANDALONE: * Scoring with the Wrong Twin * Scoring Off the Field * Scoring the Player's Baby

Find this review and more at kimberlyfaye reads. I'm not even sure when Scoring with the Wrong Twin first hit my radar, but if I had to guess, it was on or near release day. While I can't remember for sure, I'm going to assume that smoking hot cover had something to do with catching my interest initially, too. (I mean, hello!) But as often happens, it fell off my radar and I moved on to other books. Then I read an article Naima Simone wrote about diverse books and I bumped it right on up to the top of TBR. I'm really glad I did, because I thoroughly enjoyed this book.  Though it's been awhile since I read an Entangled Brazen book, my appreciation for them hasn't waned a bit. They're perfect for when I want a quick and sexy read with substance and a guaranteed HEA. (Note to self: read more Brazen.) I also love a good sports romance, so there was no way I was passing up the chance to read about the super hot tight end (oh yeah!) Zeph. He was all kinds of hot and amazing. And Sophie was no slouch herself. I liked the mistaken identity storyline, even though I suspected the misunderstanding/misdirection would cause some drama before it was all said and done. But mostly I liked the seriously smoking hot connection between Zeph and Sophie and the way everything progressed between them.  This was a great read. I finished it in two sittings and enjoyed it so much. This was my first Naima Simone book, but it won't be my last. I haven't yet made time to read the second WAGS book, Scoring Off the Field, but it's all queued up for when I have some extra reading time.  FAVORITE QUOTES "I can give you a tour. Or I can take you to the bedroom and bury my face between your legs. Your choice." "You make me want things I shouldn't. That I know better than to take. Wanting you makes me selfish." "Never apologize for the inexcusable, abusive actions of other people. You might've gone through hell, but you came out strong. Beautiful. The toughest, most indestructible swords are forged in the hottest fires. And the longer they remain in, the more resilient and shatterproof they are. That's you."

I wasn’t expecting to like Scoring with the Wrong Twin. When I read the blurb, I did an eye roll. I thought it was going to be a “wham bam thank you ma’am” romance novel. Open and shut. The title also gave me that type of vibe too. But, I was wrong. So wrong. Scoring with the Wrong Twin had a surprising depth to it that I wasn’t expecting and that I enjoyed. The plot of Scoring with the Wrong Twin is very typical for a romance novel. Sophia, an up and coming app programmer, is talked into covering for her identical twin sister, a model. Her sister booked two shoots and needs Sophia to do one of the shoots for her. Sophia agrees. It is there she meets Zephirin, the hot tight end for the Washington Warriors. The attraction between Sophia and Zeph are immediate. There is one thing, Zeph is under the impression that Sophia is her sister. What will happen when Sophia is found out? Need to read the book!! I loved Sophia but felt bad for her at the same time. She was bullied when she was younger. Even her twin couldn’t keep the bullies at bay. When Sophia was recounting that very painful period of her life, I wanted to hug her. Those hard years shaped her into the woman she was. It also was the reason she put up with her boss taking credit for her work and passing her over for big jobs. It was also why she couldn’t tell her sister no when she asked her to cover for her at the shoot. Sophia was also very quirky. Her love of 80’s movies was very clear, as was her love of tattoos and piercings. It was refreshing to read a female lead who was comfortable in her skin. I couldn’t get enough of Zephirin, even if he had issues. I didn’t understand why he was so standoffish with Sophia at first. He did come across as a jerk. But once he explained to Sophia what his ex did, I could understand why he was acting that way. If my boyfriend did that to me, I would have the same issues. He did deal with his ex trying to get him back with more grace than I would have. The hot sexual attraction between Sophia and Zeph turned into hot sex. Scorching hot. If it was fire, it would have melted my Kindle’s screen. The events leading up to the ending of Scoring with the Wrong Twin was impressive. I was so happy to see Sophia put her boss in his place and realize her dream. The ending its self was fantastic. I was expecting the emotional reunion between Sophia and Zeph, I wasn’t expecting how it was done. I actually had tears in my eyes. The epilogue was perfect!! Scoring with the Wrong Twin was a surprise. I thought the storyline was fantastic and had a lot of heart. The characters were well-rounded. The sex was hot. This is a book that I would recommend and I would reread. Age range: Adult Why: Sex, language, mild violence I would like to thank Entangled Publishing, Entangled: Brazen and NetGalley for allowing me to read and review Scoring With the Wrong Twin. All opinions stated in this review of Scoring With the Wrong Twin are mine. **I chose to leave this review after reading an advance reader copy**
