Meine Meinung: Während des Lesens von Feuer & Flut ging mir plötzlich ernsthaft durch den Kopf: So ein Buch hast du schon lange nicht mehr gelesen! Und es stimmt. In der letzten Zeit habe ich viel in Richtung Contemporary gelesen. Im August sogar mehr als Fantasy Bücher und so ist das ganz aus den Augen gekommen, was ich doch so liebe. Die gute Urban Fantasy Literatur zu der ich auch Feuer & Flut zählen würde. So könnt ihr euch sicher vorstellen, dass ich das Lesen sehr genossen habe und mit dem Buch auch sehr schnell durch war. 
Feuer & Flut hat zwar eine völlig eigene Idee, im Vergleich mit anderen Büchern würde ich aber sagen, dass es von der Atmosphäre ein bisschen an Die Tribute von Panem erinnert oder auch an Die Auslese. Es ist dieser Wettkampf Charakter, bei dem das Täten nicht verboten ist und bei dem es auch irgendwie um Leben und Tod geht. Wenn auch nicht um das eigene. Man verspürt diese ständige Anspannung, die Aufregung und das mitfiebern, was bei mir auf jeden Fall auch bei Katniss Everdeen der Fall war. Tella und die anderen erst durch den Dschungel zu folgen und dann durch die Wüste hat wirklich Spaß gemacht. 
Mit Tella kam ich sehr gut klar und ich habe vieles von ihr in mir wieder gesehen. Sie ist nicht unbedingt die selbstlose, alles aufopfernde Protagonistin, die alle anderen über sich stellt. Nein, sie kann schon ziemlich egoistisch sein aber wenn es darauf ankommt dann tut sie immer das, was sie für richtig hält auch wenn sie eigene Wünsche aufgeben muss. Außerdem ist sie sehr mitfühlend und würde nie jemand anderen verletzten nur um an die eigenen Ziele zu kommen. Was ich von Guy halten soll weiß ich noch nicht so wirklich. Er war im ersten Band noch sehr verschlossen und hat sich erst gegen Ende ein wenig geöffnet. Ich hoffe in Salz & Stein noch ein wenig mehr von ihm zu erfahren. Mein absoluter Liebling war aber natürlich Madox. Tellas Pandora und, ich habe gekreischt als ich es gelesen habe, ein wunderschöner, schwarzer FUCHS! Wenn das mal nicht perfekt ist. Der kleine Madox hat sich aber nicht nur wegen seiner Fuchs-haftigkeit in mein Herz geschlichen sondern auch, weil er der mutigste und stärkste Pandora ist, den ich im Verlauf des Buches kennengelernt habe. 
Neben dem Rennen, den Brimstone Bleed, greift Feuer & Flut auch schon etwas von dem größeren Kontext auf, in dem die Handlung eingebettet ist. Tella muss das Rennen gewinnen, damit sie ihren Bruder mit dem Heilmittel retten kann, das der Gewinner des Rennens erhält. Tella stellt sich allerdings die Frage, wieso sie ausgewählt wurde und warum komischerweise alle anderen Teilnehmer auch einen Verwandten haben, der an dieser Krankheit erkrankt ist. Welche Motivation haben die Veranstalter des Brimstone Bleeds überhaupt? All diese Fragen werden ansatzweise beantwortet. Eine richtige Lösung steht aber noch aus. Tella habe ich sehr gerne bei diesem Rennen durch Dschungel und Wüste begleitet. Nun bin ich aber auf der einen Seite gespannt, welche beiden Rennen sie noch bestreiten muss und wie die weitere Lösung von allen nur teilweise beantworteten Fragen aussieht. Ich freue mich schon auf Salz & Stein und warte sehnsüchtig. 
Bewertung: Victoria Scott konnte mich mit der Geschichte um Tella und das Brimstone Bleed überzeugen. Spannend und fesselnd geschrieben begleiten wir Tella in zwei Rennen und fiebern mit ihr mit, wenn sie und ihr Pandora Madox versuchen Tellas Bruder zu retten. Die Autorin hat mit Feuer & Flut den Auftakt zu einer neuen und spannenden Reihe geschaffen auf deren Fortsetzung ich schon sehr gespannt bin. Feuer & Flut bekommt von mir 5 von 5 Füchschen.

Mostly takes place in a forest and dessert
Goes against the makers of the race well she decides to do that at the end of the book
Falls in love 
Make friends 
Inspired in the beginning and though it all by her brother to gain the cure for his disease
That is incurable obviously 
There is minimum lose of those we love compared to other books 
The Evil guy died thank god but if he appears in the 2nd book I'll die of agony
At last I enjoyed the book and the author easygoing style that keeps u interested and feel like u r having fun reading it.

I LOVED THIS BOOK!
It's so action-packed and funny and well-written! Our main character Tella is awesome - she's sarcastic and honest and the way she's written makes her feel so real. Even minor characters in this book feel very real. I developed emotions for all them, good and bad. A couple characters I found myself truly hating, to the point where I would shout at my book for something bad to happen to them. And others I just instinctively liked. Plot twists? Yes. Several!

I know the plot of this might sound a lot like The Hunger Games, but trust me, this story is completely different. Please, please, please give it a read!

Going into Fire & Flood, I was expecting something like the Hunger Games meets the Scorpio Races. Ho. Lee. Crap. What I got was so much more than that. With a kickass heroine, a deliciously attractive and mysterious love interest and oodles of twists and turns, action, betrayals and revelations, it kept me on the edge of my seat, desperate to know what would happen next. 

Tella begins the book as a spoiled and prissy girl who I had a hard time envisioning in a competition like the one she was about to enter into. I knew there was more to her. Her reason behind entering the Brimstone Bleed was selfless. She wanted to try to save her brother's life. Even at the beginning of the competition, I was less than impressed with her and imagined she would spend the majority of the book being saved by others. But, as a Contender, Tella came into her own. She became strong, determined and tough without losing herself completely. I found myself really rooting for her in both the competition and her growing thing with Madox, who was a giant puzzle, one I couldn't wait to get solved. They had chemistry and worked well together in the competition. 

I thoroughly enjoyed everything about this book. The writing was fantastic and the world-building was complete. I could picture myself in the world. The description of the Pandoras was absolutely fascinating to me. The concept was original. The challenges were each fascinating in their own right, as were all the characters, even those who played the smallest parts were intriguing. Everyone had something to hide and I found myself wanting to know everyone's story. I can't even tell you how anxiously I'm awaiting the next book in this series. While Fire & Flood didn't end with a true cliffhanger, there are enough unanswered questions that I can't wait to have resolved.

Fire & Flood was quite different than I thought it would be. Since I hadn't read a single review prior to diving in for myself, I was thrown for a loop once I got into the story. At first it resembles The Hunger Games quite a bit, which made me nervous... but quickly took a turn and arrived at its own unique state of awesome.

I never expected to cringe, shiver, or scream as many times as I did while reading this book. Fire & Flood is quite a bit out of my comfort zone on the sqeemish scale. Ants, leaches, snakes and other creepy crawly creatures was only the start of the cringing. There were also quite a few gory scenes that had me covering my eyes and peaking through my fingers just to get through. Wayyyy outside of my comfort zone. But man, Victoria knows how to write. And she did an amazing job keeping it enjoyable as well as disgusting. (Seriously, I can still feel the leach stuck to me and the ants climbing on my arms. *shivers*)

With its dystopia feel, I wasn't sure I would enjoy this one. I'm so relieved I was wrong. I was totally invested in the story and dying to see how it would all play out. The use of Pandoras to help the Contenders compete was awesome. One of my favorite parts was finding out what the Pandoras looked like and what they could do. Magical creatures have never really interested me... but I'm happy to say I've done a complete 180 to the opposite side of the spectrum and I'm eager to see where Victoria is going to take this series next. The characters were incredible, the world she created was fanstic, and the story-line was perfect. Another edge-of-your-seat, book-gripping, can't-turn-the-pages-fast-enough book from Victoria Scott!
