Audrey Hepburn, An Elegant Spirit

i’ve read quite a few books about audrey, but this is the only one worthwhile reading — penned by her firstborn son. sean’s love for her radiates off the ink and captures audrey’s essence and her character so beautifully. instead of being a tell-all about her, as others have done, this is an *others* tell all about her, which makes all the difference in the world. he dotes on her work she did for UNICEF, which was what she was most proud of, and undoubtedly would’ve continued had she not passed; i cried when he mentioned carrying the casket to the cemetery, and how he looked upto the sky to find no helicopters. 

this is by no means a perfect book, hence why i skipped giving this a rating, but it’s impossible to overlook the endearing love he has for his mother, complete with wonderful, wonderful photographs of her. some i’ve never seen before. 

audrey was a light, to quote billy wilders: “god kissed her on the cheek, and there she was.” 🕊️
