I am so insanely disappointed with how this entire thing turned out to put it bluntly. While 2.5 isn’t the worst rating I’ve even given I just couldn’t, in good conscience, give this a higher rating. 
 
So for those of you interested in reading this stop now and walk away from this review because I’m gonna spoil the entire thing so I can explain exactly what I disliked so much about this. 
 
For one, this was classified as a thriller and it did not thrill me. Thrillers in general aren’t my thing so I may be uninformed about what a thriller should do, but I’m assuming that boring me isn’t their goal. I’d class this as more of a physiological thriller which is actually funny because even though quite a few characters were licensed mental health professionals I felt like most of the time when they talked it was a load of rubbish. Nothing felt real. In a bad way. 
 
Then there were the character motives. The first time I realised that Nele's kidnapper was a deluded vegan activist who wanted to make a grand statement about the milking industry I was a bit like what?! This literally has nothing to do with the main plot I came here for. Looking back on everything that happened after finding out the whole truth I still just can’t wrap my head around everything. I’m not going to reveal the main motive for this entire scheme because I barely remember it. It was so dull and I don’t care enough to go back and check.
 
Another issue is that it was pretty obvious who was involved with the entire scheme because the author didn’t even try to provide the reader with any alternatives. Even if I didn’t know how each character fit into the plot until the end it clearly had to be specific characters due to their interactions with Mats. It seemed a waste especially on a plane with 600+ possibilities for it to be those people.
 
I wish that I had enjoyed this more because it did have a good start. I kept wishing that the entire book was shorter so it would pack a bigger punch.
