Tokyo Express is an exemplary classic murder-mystery and I completely love it for that. Matsumoto writes with the most beautiful attention to detail which creates a story that just glides off the page. I envy anyone reading this for the first time

This book was a direct translation from Japanese - in that the language used was very simple and at times boring. I really enjoyed the descriptions of the environment and work-life of a Japanese person provided by the author. A murder mystery is the focus of the novel and becomes the main case for the protagonist. 

Additionally, this novel is hyperfocused on the importance of the newfound train lines in post ww1 Japan - and how trains connect and become an alibi for the most unlikely people.

Aspettative rispettate ma non superate, mi sento di dare 4 stelle piene a questo giallo anche se mi sarebbe veramente piaciuto avere una svolta davvero sconvolgente che ahimè non ho trovato. 
Ho apprezzato comunque particolarmente questo giallo e sopratutto il fatto che sia un giallo di letteratura Giapponese, sento già il bisogno di recuperarne altri! (Qualcuno ha dei consigli?)
L’idea di base (indagine basata sugli orari dei treni) è assolutamente particolare e si trasforma in un grande intreccio da dover seguire, non è sempre semplice ma per quanto mi riguarda dopo dei momenti un po’ “scoglio” diventa il motivo principale per cui continuare questa storia.
Ho avuto delle vibes alla Light/L di Death Note per un motivo che non dico, si tratterebbe di un mezzo spoiler.
