Junji Ito2021
Horror master Junji Ito explores a new frontier with a grand cosmic horror tale in which a mysterious woman has her way with the world! Did she wander in? Or was she drawn in…? A woman walks alone at the foot of Mount Sengoku. A man appears, saying he’s been waiting for her, and invites her to a nearby village. Surprisingly, the village is covered in hairlike volcanic glass fibers, and all of it shines a bright gold. At night, when the villagers perform their custom of gazing up at the starry sky, countless unidentified flying objects come raining down on them, the opening act for the terror about to occur.

A horror cosmic with religion. The storyline not as good as usual, but still junji ito art line still beautiful pretty as usual. The main mc remain me of remina and uzumaki.

as others have said, not really horror, and not even heavily philosophical. nothing has grabbed me like uzumaki did. between sensor and remina there are some christian elements in ito's newer work that probably disproportionately put me off from them. i received an ARC of this book from netgalley.

3.5 stars. This is by far the best drawn book by Ito I've read but the plot is confusing at first and the resolution seems quick. I think Sensor could have been better if given more time to breathe and should have been much longer to elaborate on the world and strange things in it. I will say, as a longtime Ito fan, that plot and characters have never been his strong suite but his art and ideas are why I keep coming back, which are both great and good in that order for this book. I suggest picking it up if you're an Ito fan looking for some more of his stuff, but if you're reading Ito for your first time I recommend picking up a short story collection or a classic like Uzumaki.

Typical Junji Ito but with a *dash* of spiritual awakening themes. It was fine. But not my favorite.

I wasn't sure where this was going at first. I mean, hair? But Ito crafted a story that sucked me in. Culty/cosmic weirdness? Yes. I will be thinking about the way this story deals with Christianity for a while, too.

It was on the same page as Remina for me as in I liked it… but it wasn’t really my favorite. It felt too short for the story it was trying to tell, but I also couldn’t really tell you what the story was. It felt like some vague bullet points of a story smashed together. It was still enjoyable because of Ito’s gorgeous illustrations. Definitely worth a read if you’re a big fan but if you’re looking for your first work from him I’d say choose another one.

ARC given by NetGalley for Honest Review Sensor was an amazing read! Delightfully terrifying and had me guessing what would happen next after every page. Each chapter wove a new story arc into the over arching one to bring the cast of characters together. As always with Junji Ito's work, the art is fantastic and gruesome! Just what I want when going into a manga of this kind!

Ito sensei really said he had no plan for this book in the afterward. LOL reminds me of the filler crap I’d add in to essays for Marketing class in the 10th grade 😂. Anyways…. It’s women being used as a conduit for male emotion that’s the true horror for me. Per Usual. Per ALWAYS. The illustrations were graphic and horrifying; the story was weird; Not bad overall.
