This book really made me think of the book Hush Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick. It's about fallen angels, Nephilims and a new creature(?) Rephaim. Although this book was quite good, I gave one star taken because the violence was very...violent. And to me, it made it too obvious for the next move.
But other than that, I can say Rafa is now on my new character-boyfriend list. probably on the top 5!
If you liked the book Hush Hush, like I did, you will definitely love this!!!

So, this book originally intrigued me because it was considered almost as good as, Susan Ee's Penryn and the End of Days trilogy, which is a huge compliment on Paula Weston. I can officially say that even though the storylines are completely different, I do agree with the comparison. This book was actually incredible! I loved how everything played out and the sequence of events were perfect. Everything happened at such a perfect time that it flowed so nicely. It was very well written and deserves a lot more hype. Weston is an Australian author and it was pretty difficult to get her books, considering I was greedy and ended up ordering them straight from Australia, so I could have them a year before they were published in Canada, where I am. LOL I know that's cheating a little but seriously, these books were so addictive and so much fun to read, I needed these books one after the other. 

The energy between Gaby and Rafa is incredible. Since the first time she, thought, she met him till the end of the book, was just consistent non-stop electricity between the two. The big drama was that Gaby seemed to have this whole life before, where she can't seem to remember a single thing about it. She learns a lot about her 'true' self and how heartless this Gabe could be. The other mystery is her brother. What exactly happened to her twin brother if she can't trust this new life's memories? Is her brother really dead? Or was that just part of this non truthful life she's been living. So we definitely get to see the journey and trip from both Gaby and Rafa to find out, considering Rafa and Jude are best friends. 

I liked how Weston played on the memory aspect in this series because it was interesting when we would hear about the two different, yet same physical person- Gaby and Gabe. I really liked that and it had a bit of a psychology theme to i, which I really enjoyed. It seemed to have brought more to the book then just an average YA angel novel. I really liked this book and I'm really excited to read what happens when Gaby gets her memories back, because it has to happen some day!

This is my second reading of this book and I enjoyed it just as much this time as I did the first. I feel just as strong an urge to read the rest of the series ASAP just as I did in the first read through and I can still remember a lot of the story. When a series can hook you even when you know what's going to happen then you know it's well written and a good story.

I think I love this series so much because Gaby is this really awesome character and even though she has no memory of her past kickass self she is still pretty badass all things considered. She is grieving and to then discover her grief is a lie as is her life, well, the fact she manages to hold herself together and fight the good fight still demonstrates how brilliant a character she is. Then there is her friends Mags who should really be leggjng it in the other direction but doesn't and you have an A+ friendship as well.

The rear thing is that I really like all of the characters, even the ones who are dicks as they are so good at fitting the roll they are in but also they are not 2 dimensional. You can see they act for what they believe in and see how they believe in it.

I will of course say Rafa helps a hell of a lot in convincing me I need to read. I am not one for book boyfriends (no matter how much a character may make me swoon) but he is one who convinces me otherwise. Sure, he kind of comes across as the typical cocky bad boy the girl totally shouldn't get involved with but lusts for but he is a lot more than that. He has a connection to Gabe before she was Gaby. He is a connection to Jude and he has a whole lot of good reasons for not wanting to associate with Gaby but he does because he cannot help it. And their connection is crazy insane. I cannot wait for hiss story to progress.

I adored each and every page of this book, from the witty dialog to nail-gnawing activity. Every scene was just the right length and told me just enough to keep me satisfied and yet just little enough to keep me hooked with every page turn.

It’s got angels, it’s got demons, it’s got hot guys, it’s got sword fighting and it’s got a strong female lead. What else could you ask for?
