this book really surprised me! i wasn’t sure what to expect, but i ended up loving it. soul surfer is one of my favorite movies, and this was very similar to bethany hamilton’s story. i loved the unique storytelling through poems, newspaper articles, letters, and conversations. you could really see her growth through such a short amount of time, and the overall message of adapting and healing with your community really hit home for me!
