Simon Mason, anti-hero, believes he has seen his wife in bed with Fluck, object of his obsessive fears. As the novel unfolds Simon casts off layers of self-deception and the reader is aware that his version of events is wildly distorted. A tragi-comedy that questions the nature of objective truth.
