Ok I gotta say, I need to get over my prejudice somehow. I had many doubts about this book, I had read many bad reviews and some good ones and I didn't know if this book was going to be a bummer or actually pretty good. It was the latter. I didn't love it but it was still good. I had never read a book where the main characters were jewish, I'm a 100% Catholic and it was a little strange, different, to read from the perspective of a jew, specially when religion was a factor that had an important role in the book. Anyway it didn't bother me and I had no big problems with it. Amy's character was a piece of work. She is a feisty, spoiled girl but she has a big heart and let's be realistic if you were hurled to Israel righ now how would you act? Avi was real dreamy and he always cared for her even when they were ''hating each other''. It was a fast, light read, I read it in one sitting, 2h and a half. Now I'm off to read the second book :)

First: This book was way to short! If the next two books are as short as this one, I would smash them all together so they became one instead of three. Second: Amy where like a copy of myself. I read that people saw her as annoying, and I understand that, but she's just like me! I complain just as much as her, and have the same negative attitude. We were scary alike. Third: I realize this is one of Elkeles' first books, and I do think it's a good one. But I also have to say that her writing skills has developed since she wrote How to Ruin a Summer Vacation. The Perfect Chemistry-triology had a much better language, but at the same time - she did a darn good job on this book too. Just think about ALL that research this book must've caused her! She must've spend so much time to get to know all that about Israel, and the Israeli people. I am truly amazed by this woman. So far, I've loved all her books. And of course.. I fell a bit in love with Avi. Just as I'm in love with Alex. (I'm in love with every main character guy in the books I've read. If you know what I'm talking about) Go Elkeles!! Like.. Really.
