Honestly, I didn’t find this book as compelling as the prior three. I started reading it with such high hopes, because Cole and Isabel were my favorite couple in the original trilogy, so I was so excited to read a book dedicated to them. Although there were some scenes that I liked and enjoyed, most weren’t very powerful or creative; I just found it to be a bit cliche.

What I liked:

Cole continues to be my favorite character. He is so sad and broken, but also so witty. I have a soft spot for characters like this.

Isabel and Sophia’s relationship. Isabel was such a snarky character, but her cousin’s patience and love for her went so beyond family duty. I just really liked how they evolved as family members and friends.

Cole’s friendship with Leon. Sometimes Cole was so carefree and unexpected. I really liked how he befriended his driver and how they learned so much from each other.

What I disliked:

The reality show theme throughout. I didn’t not enjoy the fact that Cole had signed on for an awful reality show. The person running the show was so obnoxious and over the top, but I suppose Stiefvater was just trying to go for things clearly L.A.

I felt that Isabel was a bit more whiny and complicated in this one. There were so many times she got upset or angry or sad for no apparent reason or for reasons that didn’t make any sense.

What I thought overall:

So while reading this book, I had Thanksgiving and pre-finals week and so many other things going on that I wasn’t able to document better details on my likes/dislikes, but overall I just didn’t think it was as up to par with the others. I thought it was trying too hard at being L.A.-esque and that got old and boring after awhile. Do I recommend reading it? Yes. I am still glad that I read it, but I thought it could have gone in a better direction. I did like the ending though.

Cole and Isabel are such disasters, acting out (like real teenagers, just extreme versions because both are wealthy, to a degree). This one is the least “paranormal” of the Mercy Falls series, understandably so.

Cole in many ways feels like a precursor to Ronan, but aimless without the true north of Gansey.

High Fidelity

It is very lovely written addition to Maggie's Shiver trilogy . You get to hear more from Cole and Isabel and to witness theirs growth.
Also there are some well incorporated details about Sam and Grace, which i find cute.
So if u want to LINGER just a little bit more on your Wolves of Mercy Falls story this is book for you.

¿Cómo parecer imparcial cuando es mi escritora favorita? ¿Cómo hago que me crean que soy objetiva si ésta es mi serie favorita? ¿Cómo no parecer sólo una fangirl más? ¿Tengo que hablar mal del libro? Tendría que hacerlo si tuviera algo malo ¿Pero que si todo fue perfecto para mí? Será difícil que no creas que solo soy una fan sobre extasiada.

Creo que te he dicho más de veinte veces lo mucho MUCHO que adoro a Maggie Stiefvater, que mi libro favorito es Shiver o lo emocionada que estaba por Sinner. También te he dicho que se me hace extremadamente difícil hablar de algo que me importa mucho, algo que es especial para mí y es por eso que me demoré tanto en escribir esta reseña. Todos los días me encontraba con una nueva reseña de alguien que adoró el libro y tuvo la suficiente objetividad y nervios para escribir sus comentarios sobre el libro, sin duda mi favorita es la de Cait @Notebook Sisters (aunque tiene un ligerísimo spoiler casi al final, claro eso si no has leído los tres libros previos pero ¿por qué estarías leyendo Sinner si no has leído primero Shiver, Linger y Forever?) y con cada una asentía y me reía y fangirleaba y... Adoro a Maggie Stiefvater.

La escritura de Maggie es hermosa, desde la carta que está al comienzo, una carta de Maggie a nosotros los fans y la dedicatoria. O como puedes pasar de una perspectiva a otra y sentirlo de verdad, diferenciar los matices de sus personalidades: la frialdad de Isabel y la ligereza de Cole.

Y por supuesto no podía faltar la música o referencia a ella, Maggie es una artista, en toda la definición de la palabra.

I haven't read a book in a day in quite some time, but wow, there was no other way to properly read this one. I'm so grateful for the snow day that gave me the opportunity to completely devour this book <3. 

I find that it is hardest to write reviews for the books I love most, and that is definitely a problem I'm having with this one. The feelings that this story invoked in me remind me a lot of the ones I was put through in Christina Lauren's Autoboyography. By that, I mean it was full of happiness, heartbreak, angst, utter sadness, and just a sense that I could not stop reading because I was just in the midst of so much emotional trauma. I was so enthralled by this story and it's really hard to properly explain why.

Perhaps it's because I care so much about Cole and Isabel, and the fact that I was already in love with their characters from the previous books made me even more connected to them. This is almost the perfect formula for a book: a romantic spin-off between two characters that you already love and ship.

I think that this is one of my favorite types of books, and one that I feel like doesn't exist often enough. Both this, and Laini Taylor's Night of Cake & Puppets fit this model and were both honestly my favorite books out of either series. 

I related to both Isabel and Cole in more ways than I could possibly mention. Cole constantly feels alone, even in a crowd, and has trouble finding purpose in his life without other people. He constantly feels restless, unless he's actively experiencing. Isabel, on the other hand, struggles with disconnecting from the world. She needs to feel anchored to it and fears not being in control. She can't simply escape by not thinking about her problems like Cole, because she is plagued by logic, in a sense, and I can really relate to that too.

This book reminds me why I love reading so much: I love to see myself in characters, feel emotions through fiction, and to have new ideas and thoughts sparked within me that I've never even considered before. 

Maggie Stiefvater has a true gift for portraying emotion through imagery and the experiences of each character. Every scene provided a specific emotion or idea to me that I don't always get from other books. Overall, I'm blown away by this book, and I cannot wait to continue reading more from Maggie Stiefvater.

I'm so happy I found this book. Cole and Isabel were definitely my favourite characters from the series and I loved their story.

Simply fantastic. Maggie Stiefvater is a word magician and each sentence is so evocative and thoughtful I wanted to highlight every one. This is the perfect follow-up to the Shiver Trilogy and the perfect book to read on a hot summer night. I could taste the LA air, see the neon lights, and feel the sand under my own wolf paws. Cole and Isabel were my favorites, and I'm so glad we get to see how their story plays out. Wonderful.

Is this a 4 or a 5 star read? Eep. I'm so torn. I need to think a bit more.
