I really struggled to finish this book. There was a lot of beating around the bush without inducing any sentimental or empathetic feelings to create mystery that was ineffectual. Reflecting back on the story, it does evoke certain emotions, but the book failed to do this on its own with the writing.

Technically this goes on my DNF shelf. It was fine. I liked it in the beginning, but I just got bored. The back and forth through time storytelling is too choppy and doesn't work for the story. The story and the history is interesting, just not interesting enough to stick with for me. I feel like I get where its going, no need to keep going there with it.
