Narrative Principles in Dostoevskij's Besy A Structural Analysis

This study represents a systematic analysis of the narrative situation in Dostoevskij's novel -The Possessed-. A Structuralist communication model of the semantic structure of the narrative work is used for the analysis. The key to the structure of the novel is found in the discrepancy between the level of meaning of the fictional narrator and the implied author. The entire novel is viewed as an advanced model of communication without prejudice to the socio-historical themes of the work."
