I picked this novel up after listening to an author interview on the Reading Women podcast. The host of the podcast was raving about this novel, and as I'm trying to read more diverse authors / stories, I knew I needed to try it.

Grace has to return to Pondicherry to cremate her mother after her death. While there, she learns that her mother has left her a house by the beach and a sister with Down's Syndrome. What follows is the story of Grace learning to care for her sister and deal with grief. 

Overall, this is a well-written and thoughtful novel. I enjoyed the perspectives the story brought. However, this novel is incredibly character driven; there really isn't much to the plot. That is what truly kept me from really enjoying this story. If you enjoy character driven stories, then I would recommend picking this up and giving it a try.
