Smoke Bitten
Reviews

Smoke Bitten was superb! *chef's kiss* What I love the most about this series is that Mercy is still very much her OWN person. Even though she found her place in Adam's family and the pack, she still operates very much as her own entity. Plus, I love it when books can get you involved in solving things out of your own volition. I’d especially recommend this series to anyone wanting to get into the genre urban fantasy ♡

While I have read a lot of good books this year, this one is my favorite!! I would definitely say to start from the beginning before you dive into this series, you wont regret it.. In Smoke Bitten Underhill (Tilly) has made a doorway into this world, and placed it in Mercy's backyard.. Well something has escaped. Something that will bite you, and take over your body until it decides to kill you.. So Mercy and her pack are working on figuring out who/what has escaped and how to stop it.. It ends up biting both Ben and Stefan.. So Mercy has to figure out a way to stop it before it can kill her friends.. Also with some horrible timing Mercy and Adam are having some issues.. well its more Adam having issues and hiding whats going on from his wife and pack.. Mercy now has to stop some unknown thing from underhill, and figure out a way to make Adam open up about whats going on... This book was non stop action from beginning to end.. and i am already anxious for when the next Mercy Thompson book is going to be released and what will happen when it is.. I think the next book Patricia Briggs is releasing is an Alpha and Omega book, which Im excited about too as I have missed Anna and Charles.. and Bran and Asil.. :) I love all of the books in both of these series Mercy thompson, and Alpha and Omega and preorder as soon as the links are up.. These books are ones that I have read, and reread multiple times and love them just as much every time.. I highly recommend Patricia Briggs!!

This series is still going strong. I loved it! So many great characters to love and new problems to solve. I love the different kinds of fae and the all the different monsters. This is a definite auto buy author for me.

Another great installment in one of my favorite series! I've thought about why it is that Patricia Briggs always manages to grip me from the start like no other author. I think her secret is that she always immediately establishes high stakes: various different threats and dangers (both physical and inter-personal) that the characters care deeply about. Furthermore, those threats usually involve *other characters in danger*. Mercy has always had a protective mama bear personality with which she takes any stray under her wing (even though she is highly vulnerable and not very strong herself). This deeply caring nature drew me in right away in Moon Called, when she met a paranoid, homeless teenage werewolf and offered him a job at her garage and a meal. This protective, self-sacrificing nature is also her biggest weakness, but not one I ever want her to lose. This series is just heaven for anyone who likes crazy found families and wants to follow a character who really cares about them and wants to protect them. In this latest book in the series, Mercy realizes that her marriage is suddenly on the rocks for no discernible reason (at least none Adam wants to tell her about), a door to the frightening world of Underhill has opened right in her own backyard, someone has taken over her kind elderly neighbor and forced him to kill his wife, unknown werewolves have shown up apparently trying to take away Adam's pack (and kill him), a creepy vampire is stalking her, her husband's ex-wife's intrigues are hurting Mercy's adopted daughter, and that's just the start. I love stories in which characters have to face several very different kinds of challenges at once, and this book does this perfectly. I always inhale the books in this series very quickly and am sad they're over afterwards - these weird characters are so lovable that you just want to spend more time with them. Is this series for you: yes - if you love "mama bear (okay, coyote) wants to protect the innocent" story lines, found families, great dialogue and characterization, fast-paced action, cranky werewolves, and comfort baking. No - if you want fancy prose, lush descriptions, slow pacing etc. then this will not be your cup of tea. For me it's perfect, though! I especially like that the "romance" part of these books has always been about digging deep into the complexities of interpersonal relationships and how to love and support another person, not "lusting after hot guys" in any way. Hope this helps you decide if this series would be right for you.
