“But we haven’t even kissed,” I whisper. It sounds pathetic, even to me, because deep down I know that wouldn’t change a thing.

 “Kiss me then.” The challenge swirls like an eye of a storm in his gaze. I pause. 

“I’ll show you exactly what type of man I am, baby.” 

“You need to wear more clothes around the house, baby. If I catch one of Gabe’s men so much as glancing in your direction, I’ll carve their eyeballs out.”

‘My obsession with her is maddening.’

“You look so hot in my clothes it pisses me off.” 

“No one is going to come for you, and if they do, they’ll have to get through a whole fucking army, and then through me.” 

“I’m running you a bath,” he murmurs into my crown. 

“I’m old enough to be your father. How does that make you feel?” Heart thumping, i feign boredom. Look up at him through my lashes. “Does that mean I can call you daddy now?” 

“We can do this the easy way or the hard way. I’m taking over Devil’s Dip. The Devil’s Preserve is my territory, and Aurora is now my girl.”

It has been a minute since I have read a mafia romance and an even longer minute with one I enjoyed. Is it the greatest book in the world? No, but you have such a good time reading the book that you can’t help but still enjoy the book. The concept of this was really interesting and I really liked how it was told. I think the characters are all very interesting and can’t wait to hear the stories of the rest of the brothers and what their stories will consist of.

It has been a minute since I have read a mafia romance and an even longer minute with one I enjoyed. Is it the greatest book in the world? No, but you have such a good time reading the book that you can’t help but still enjoy the book. The concept of this was really interesting and I really liked how it was told. I think the characters are all very interesting and can’t wait to hear the stories of the rest of the brothers and what their stories will consist of.

But, only because I finished it. Somehow. 

People who said it was better than The Made Series, You were lying. How can you compare Nico and Elena to a girl obsessed with birds and a man who must have some bird kink, is crazy to me. 

Let’s start from the main characters, and precisely our heroine Rory, aka bird girl. I will never understand how Angelo fall in love with her, if someone start talking "oh swan" or "oh flamingo" to me during dirty time I would punch him in the face. I want to laugh again, so I'll show what came out of this bitch mouth:

"swan" x20
"Goose" x15
"Sparrow" x4
"Flamingo" x11
"Crow" x28

All with a combination of "oh". 

Now the most important thing about Rory, she was "ThE bAd GirL" which she said a few times, because it was SO important. You know what? I almost forgot, it was the first sentence she said.

It was good, I liked Angelo and Rory. But I liked Raf and penny more. I did definitely read the story out of order though. Mafia boss and girl who is engaged to uncle, Yada yada yada happy ending. Smut was intense for me but I def know other people who eat that up so do with that what you will.

I devoured this book. The family dynamic, the romance, the suspense I loved it all. Rory and Angelo go together so well. The way he fell in love so slowly and hard was everything. His little cheeky comments during his POV lol Everyone kept saying it was like the Sweetest Oblivion but I didn’t get those vibes at all. This had more raw feelings in my opinion.

I was invested in the plot and not just the romance. Rory is a little annoying but let's remember she's 21 and I have to say that I loved her bird obsession, it's different from the rest of mafia main characters.
Angelo "vicious" Viscounti has a reputation for being impulsive but I didn't see the impulsive, he's just a teddy bear for Rory.
I'm desperate to read Raf story, I just know that I'm going to fold so fast for that man.

The storyline was boring and I figured everything interesting out in the first 5 minutes because it was so obvious. (I just went to review it on storygraph and the book is listed as mysterious. That has to be a joke lmao - The only thing unkown was how often I would sigh because the author didn't care to create something even remotely interesting)

I have a headache from rolling my eyes so much because it was just cliché after cliché.

Of course, they were instantly attracted to each other. Of course, they fall in love before having one longer conversation. Of course, she's the only girl who talks back. Of course, he'd go to war for her. I could go on and on but you get the idea.

I'm so over this shit. They treat every single woman like utter shit and call them a whore or dumb or both but the main character is different. Of course, they would never call her a whore and you'd get your hand chopped of if you'd call her names. They're all hypocrites. The only difference between the main character and the "whores" is that she's the main character. There certainly are other girls who talk back and even if they don't then they know at least how to survive in this environment. I want to castrate every single one of them.

If I have to read one more time about a man who treats everyone like shit and then acts like he would never disrespect a woman, I'm going feral. And of course, the fmc is never bothered by it because the prettier girls are all easy and sluts. They would never be okay with being treated like that but as long as her husband treats her with respect, he can say anything he wants about other women. And by anything I mean only curse words or point out negative attributes because a compliment would be cheating, right?

I will end the series right here and now because I barely got through this one and I don't care if the series gets better or not. It could be 100 times better and it would still be bad.

It was a basic boring mafia romance without even making sense because he didn't want to be in the mafia for some (stupid) reason but he did want to kill like he was still in the mafia💀 WHAT? He wanted the dark aspects without the illegal business aspect even tho he couldn't care less if it's illegal or not????? He had a "reason" for all of this but it was such bullshit to me. You're 36 years old. Grow up.🙄 (Did I mention he repeated a couple of times that he could be her father? Yeah.... If the guy has to be 15 years older than at least shut up about it and let me read in peace)

i enjoyed reading this so much!! very easy to read and so addicting! i couldn't put it down and just the tension between rory and angelo had me screaming!! this series is probably becoming one of my favorites!!

The reason I started it was because I wanted to read the second book to the series about the second brother and eventho it can be read as a stand-alone, I still wanted to read the first book in order to get introduced to the characters fully. Eventually we finished it, and when we started the second book, I lost it lmao. I hoped that the writing improved but it did not- And I dropped the series. First time ever DNF-ing a book/series.

And I don't think I'll ever pick that book series again.

lovedddd this book! the slow burn was amazing, but was definitely slooow at times. the detail in the book made it a very vivid story, but the bird cursing was a no from me. i tried to like it, i really did but the back bone the FMC grew towards the end of the book made up for her weird swearing
