wow okay this gave me the FEELS. I just .. I am trash. I am a massive trashcan who would die for the Shadowhunter-verse and all these characters. Like, they're all my kids and I LOVE THEM. 

This is the story of Jace coming to the Institute for the first time, told from Jem Carstairs point of view. Everything about it was so sweet, Alec and Isabelle as children are ADORABLE. I loved how it showed Alec's baby gay crush on Jace. And just the interactions between the three Lightwood/Herondales are so pure, I love my children. 

Raphael Santiago and Lily Chen are also in this and jfgh I LOVE THEM. Raphael is one of my favourite characters in this world so it was  so so good  to see him again. I miss him so much. Lily is also incredibly funny in this and those jokes about Jem being highkey hot? I felt that

Cassandra Clare's short stories are often hit and miss with me, like I've really loved some and hated some others. But this is one of the better ones! I liked it a lot and I'm pretty excited to read the others she puts out in this collection.

I’ve just got to say I love Cassandra’s work. And I almost cried, maybe I’m an emotional reader, but honestly, at any mention of Will and Tessa by Jem I get a heartache and this intense need to cry.

Also, Lily Chen is awesome. I loved her humor throughout this, she is the best. 

And Izzy’s laughs and she thinking Brother Zachariah looked like a “mundie singer” made me laugh so hard. Alec’s obvious crush on Raphael was so funny.

Read this solely for the Raphael content and was not disappointed. 

I want more Raphael content, that is all.

** spoiler alert **
           I wasn’t sure what I was expecting from this short story but it was great fun and quite emotional to listen to. Below are some of the highlights that I loved:
- Jem’s internal monologue 
- His contemplation of his life as a silent brother
- Every time he remembers Will or Tessa made me so sad
- Raphael is his usual rude and arrogant self
- Lily is hilarious
- Little Izzy isn’t sure if she wants a new brother
- Is 11 year old Alec really trying to flirt with Raphael 😉😉
- Jonathan is already a fighter
- He is scared to let anyone in or show any weakness
- Alec takes an instant liking to him which surprises Izzy
- He may be 10 but he is already sassy
- Cute little Max hugging and calling him “Jonathing” is precious 😃😃
- Maryse gives him the nickname “Jace” and that’s so sweet.

This story may not be significant to the overall arc of the major series but it’s always fun to know the little things about our favorite characters.

I love diving back in to this world. Jem is a favorite character, so I never mind reading more about him. There were a lot of memories referring to The Infernal Devices and the carving in his staff, was just so sweet.
It was nice to read a bit more before Jace came to live with Alec and Isabelle. Reading how she felt and how it all happened was really interesting.

Short, cute, to the point. I like these compilation books we get. Like I realize it's just a grab for our money, but I just can't find it in me to care :P

Okay, so I of course loved this because it's Cassandra Clare and deals with some of the most amazing characters but a few things stood out to me that put the icing on the cake in a sense. For starters Brother Zachariah narrates several sections and the mentions of Tessa and Will (especially Will) had me tearing up! The initials on the staff when 10 year old Jace asks about them gave me all the feelings because they were W. H. and the way Zachariah talks about Will just makes me so emotional! Lily, Rafael's vampire companion was so funny and I loved it! Her comments about Zachariah had me laughing out loud while listening to this on audio, it was fantastic! Another thing I loved was seeing 10 year old Jace and the younger versions of Alec and Isabelle and even little baby Max. Seeing them so young and knowing what happens really makes all their interactions catch your attention. I enjoyed seeing them meeting knowing that it ends up becoming something so great. Now on to listen to the next one so I can make my way through GotSM so I can finally dive into QoAaD! 4.5/5 STARS!

This was beautiful. Jem has always been my #1 bookish boyfriend ever, and the fact that he was one of the POV took my heart away.

I usually don’t like when Cassie makes this short stories with other writes, but I completely enjoyed this one. I was so interested on what had been of Jem/brother Zachariah. I also loved having an inside on Raphael and how he was before he gets introduced to us on City of Bones. 

And finally I love young Isabelle and Alec. How funny and childish they still are. How Alec was captivated by Raphael. And how was Jace first introduction to the Lightwoods went, but more than that how on Jem’s reflexions says that he could feel Will on him (Jace) even though physically they were so different. I got teary eyed!

I have no complaints, I loved every single part of it.

I enjoyed this first installment of the Ghosts of the Shadow Market series of stories featuring Jem Carstairs, with each focusing on a different character.

In this story Jace comes to New York City and meets the Lightwoods for the first time. We get to see !Raphael and Lily, as well as Brother Zachariah. 

I can’t wait for the rest of the stories!
