A speedy read due in part to the snappy verse and large type. I loved this book and it's story about teenage love and lust written diary-style. I smiled, I cried, I felt a connection. I'm a teenager at heart.

I want to make it abundantly clear that this is probably the worst book I've ever read. 
To be frank I've never read a book with a more idek just disgusting love interest in my life, don't even get me started on the sequel which was in all ways so so much worse and I loved it so so much it hurts me. I adore this book because it is so beyond stupid and painful. I read this as a joke and then I read the sequel as not a joke and was aggressively disappointed in myself for liking such utter trash so much.

Sophie describes her relationships with a series of boys as she searches for Mr. Right.

Unexpectedly sweet and easy to get through. 

I've recently started getting a bit more into poetry and books written in verse and I'm still trying to find a story that really captivates me. Sadly, even with this one, I keep having the same problems. The poems hardly feel like actual poetry, but rather like 
prose,
written like this, 
so it has more pages
and can pass as a book
and not as a short story. 
I've read a review for this book that said the actual content of the plot could be put into 50 pages and I totally agree. But then again: would I have picked it up if it had been a short story? Probably not. Would it work as well as it worked written in this format? Again, probably not. 

On the other hand, I liked how positive and cute this was and how refreshing it felt. I found some of the parts to be genuine and true and heartwarming, and in the end I ended up completely rooting for Sophie and Robin. So, when it comes to evoking feelings in the reader, What My Mother Doesn't Know succeeded in its purpose. 

I say it's worth giving this a try.
