My little grey cells are well and truly pickled after this brain teaser of a book!

Hercule has been invited to deepest, darkest Norfolk by the mother of his friend, Inspector Catchpool.  There appears to have been a murder and she is worried that her friend's husband may be the next victim!

As with most of Hercule's sidekicks Edward Catchpool sometimes comes over as a complete berk but he has his moments of insight.  He's very much Hercule's errand boy this time around.  There are plenty of ruddy awful houseguests and family that could be in the frame and all seem to have a half decent motive for one murder but not both!

Head injuries, poisonings, side-lined fiancées and liar after liar all get in the way but Hercule finally cracks the case in his own inimitable style!  I actually guessed the murderer but got the motive completely wrong, lol.
