Hercule Poirot and his sidekick, Edward Catchpool of Scotland Yard, are planning to spend Christmas quietly together. Then, Catchpool's mother shows up and insists on going to Norfolk with her to solve one murder and prevent another.

This was an entertaining novel with plenty of Christmasy vibes. I did knock off a star for having to be in Catchpool's head, listening to him whine about how much he despises his mother. She is the stereotypical, overbearing mother with "good intentions," but I got tired of Catchpool kvetching about her. ;)
