I love historical fiction and this one didn't disappoint. I've only read about Morgana as a secondary character, described as a witch or evil sorceress. This retelling was brilliant. When you take away titles, names and privilege, it's essentially the story of a woman trying to navigate her way in a man's world, struggling to toe the line of duty and tradition, whilst staying true to herself and honoring her talent and passion. I can't wait for book two!

this book sucked until the last quarter. lowkey disappointed me.

A pretty good feminist retelling of the famed sorceress from Authurian legend. The author did a great job of showing from an early age that Morgan was strong and bright way before she develops her powers. Her strength infuriates the men of the time of course. They want her to be weak, proper,  quiet, uneducated, broken and submissive. As she defies them at every turn and her powers grow, she becomes a formidable threat to Merlin, the world, and possibly even herself.
