Naya Rivera's book, like many reviews say, is definitely honest and occasionally funny. I didn't love it but I didn't hate it.

She seems to begin her story chronologically, which is not generally a style I like because it tends to fall into an out of order chaotic mess. Hers does that to a degree. She mentions things about her life before they happen, elaborates for a bit, and then devotes a chapter to them later (like her relationship with her no ex-husband and Big Sean).

I also didn't know how to feel about her as a person before reading this and still don't. I only knew Naya Rivera from her role on Glee. She doesn't hold back or try to make you like her before she tells you things about her past, like that she committed bank fraud and lied on resumes to get jobs she wanted. She tries to cover it up with cliché "everyone makes mistakes" or "it's not because I was an actress" but I can't help thinking these things were so wrong and she got away with them because she was semi-famous when they happened. It just didn't make me want to like her.

All in all an okay celebrity biography. She dishes just the right amount of gossip to make me happy but not to feel like I was reading a trashy tell-all.

As a former Glee addict, I was hoping this would be a lot of inside dirt. The gossip is in there-to an extent-but I really respect the way she handled it. Instead of writing in her own words "a trashy tell-all," Naya owns up to her role in the positives and negatives of her life. (Guess I'll just have to wait on that anonymous Glee trashing memoir)

Even with a successful career and a family that she loves more than anything else, Naya says, "There's still a thirteen-year-old girl inside of me making detailed lists of how I can improve, who's never sure of my own self-worth." Fue entretenido. Algunos capítulos más interesantes que otros, sobre todo después de la primera mitad del libro.
Después de leerlo confirmé mi teoría de que Naya y Santana no son tan distintas, hay un par de cosas y formas de pensar que me dejaron regulando y algunas cosas de las que me hubiera gustado saber un poco más.
Me pareció genial que no se haya centrado tanto en hacer de este un libro mediático - más allá de que hay varios escándalos contados en primera persona - sino como una crítica constructiva hacia su persona y las cosas que le fue enseñando la vida por así decirlo.
Sí, tiene muchas reflexiones y mensajes un poco cursis pero muy bien logrados, teniendo como eje principal de todo el libro no arrepentirse o avergonzarnos de nuestros errores.
Me gustó mucho que haya hablando tan libremente sobre su vida sexual y el aborto, así como detalles bastantes enternecedores sobre su familia y amigos.
En fin: es entretenido si no te lo tomás muy en serio y los capítulos donde se habla sobre los comienzos en Glee me hicieron fangirlear un buen rato.
