This is like 2 books in one, not necessarily a bad thing, but it did feel a bit disjointed. I liked the character Sparrow and wished we got to know more of the mother. The last third of the book when Sparrow goes to a girls rock camp felt a bit tacked on but I'm always a supporter of girls rocking out, so cool points, but way uneven too.
