Spells for the Dead

Faith Hunter2020
Nell Ingram faces a dark magic with no known origin in the newest pulse-pounding paranormal procedural in the New York Times bestselling Soulwood series. Nell is a rookie PsyLED agent, using the powers she can channel from deep within the earth to solve paranormal crimes. Together with her team, she's taken on the direst magic and the most twisted foes. But she'll need to tap into every ounce of power she has for her newest case. Nell is called to the Tennessee mansion of a country music star and finds a disturbing scene—dead bodies rapidly decaying before everyone's eyes. The witch on her team, T. Laine, has never seen magic that can steal life forces like this. PsyLED needs to find this lethal killer fast. But when a paranormal-hating FBI agent tries to derail the investigation, and the dark magics begin to spiral out of control, they find themselves under attack from all sides.

This was another great book in the soulwood series. Nell is finally a full agent in PsyLed and is FINALLY in a relationship with Occum.. i really love them together. She is also taking care of her sister Mud, and her other sister (i cant remember her name at the moment) both of them are displaying the same plant magic as Nell. This case is a bit different. A county music star is dead, and so is most of her band mates and entourage. The only thing they have is that its similar to death magics that witches can do. But its not the same, and the local cops do think so so they arrest the first witch they see. So now PsyLed has to solve the crime. And prove that local witch coven isn't responsible. It was really good, and i look forward to more books!

Nell is now a full fledged psy-led agent. She has really grown since we first met her in the Jane Yellowrock series. She escaped the cult, became an agent, is taking care of her sisters ( both of who are showing signs of the same magic Nell has) and is in a healthy relationship with her cat-man Occum.. I loved seeing them together.. They case the team are working on is a bit of a stumper.. A country music star and many of her band members have all died.. It looks like they are experienceing rapid decay and bascially melting. Nell seems to be able to feel the "death" like magic where its concentrated in the house, and can almost follow where its been.. However the police think that this is the work of witches and arent looking any further. Thankfully the psyled team wont stop trying to figure out whats going on.. I can't wait for more Nell Ingram and to see where her story will go next..
