I have been obsessed with JB Salsbury since I read Fighting for Flight. She has a way of captivating you from the very first sentence in her books. Her Fighting Series is one of my all time favorite series, but when I heard she was writing a new book that wasn't a part of that series, I was excited. 

Split is whole new world to the talent that JB possesses. One that is dark, secretive, and will have you on the edge of your seat the whole time. This is the story that is going to be the one that changes her career for the better. 

I could go into some details and tell you what this story is about, but this is one that you should just pick up and start reading. I mean the cover alone just draws you in, and once you start reading Shyann and Lucas' story, you won't stop until the end. And when you read that last word, you will be left feeling empty because you will want more of these characters. That alone tells you just how talented JB Salsbury is as an author. I feel she has an amazing future a head of her and I can't wait to see what else she brings us :)

This is my first JB Salsbury book, and I adored it. Luke and Chy are the perfect couple. They balanced each other perfectly. I thought I was not going to enjoy Chy's character at first, but quickly changed my mind as the story progressed. I felt for Luke every step of the way and the things he went through. Beware that this book contains graphic and hard to read portions about child abuse, but it was necessary to the story. 

I would highly recommend Split to a friend. It is unique, it is passionate, it is hard to read and wonderful. 5 stars.

Although I like the idea of one of the protagonists in a story having a split personality, I had some trouble with the way this sensitive issue was handled in this book. 
Shyann left home following the long, painful death of her mother in order to pursue a career in television news. After graduating from college, she fumbles her first assignment, quickly ending her career, and she must return home in order to earn some money and pick up the pieces of her life. When she is forced to take a job in her father's construction company, she meets Lucas, who has also taken a job there, but he is harboring a secret - a second personality called Gage who may have murdered his mother, sister, and brothers. Shyann is filled with unresolved hostility toward her home and her father. When she discovers that Lucas has also lost his mother, she is drawn to him, even though she fears Gage. 
This intriguing idea led to a wonderful beginning of this book, but by the middle, many of the difficult issues of mental disorders and grief were oversimplified. The ending was a little too quick with the main conflicts too easily resolved. This story might have been better as a series - written over several books - giving the protagonists more time to deal with these sensitive issues in a more believable manner. Overall, not a bad book, but it could have been better.
