What I Liked: Digger is a great personality to front this tale - she's spunky without being crass and vulnerable without being weak. Her supporting cast are just as well written; a necessity for a story or rebellion. Merista is a stubborn, good hearted sweetheart and Lord Daul is the perfect devious villain.
The plot is engaging, it keeps you coming back as you try, with Digger, to figure out what evil is approaching the Nemair stronghold and which side you want to be on when it arrives.

I loved this book. I don't think I can be objective when talking about it - it's been a while since I read a straight up fantasy novel, and this was a welcome change of pace. I love the world that has been created, and am really looking forward to delving into the second book, and catching up with the characters.
