Hmmm... I want to like this book. It deals with oceanography, after all. But the characterisation left me cold. And it was so drawn out. Iy could have been a novella, and been better for it.

I enjoyed the physical evolution of some of the characters, but the majority were just shapes, hanging in the water. I kept thinking of Blake’s 7. It was that empty. 

If I can find the sequel cheap enough, I’ll read it. But I’m not going out of my way to track it down.
