Does the girl on the cover remind anyone else of Kristen Stewart? Anyone? No? Just me? That’s cool…

So, this book took me over a week to read. Coming from the girl who reads a book a day on average, this raises some eyebrows.
But why did it take me so long to read this book?
I don’t know. I enjoyed ALL the characters, the plot was not at all slow, and the romance wasn’t bad, either. Those the three criteria on which I usually grade, and there were all either on or above average level. 

The problem, I think, was the book I read RIGHT BEFORE this one, which may have put me in a reading slump. 

Nonetheless, I assure you I will reread this book when the whole trilogy is out and I an get all three from the library.

Starling was fantastic! It had me hooked from the very beginning. It has action, romance, and awesome characters, everything I love in a book. Norse mythology plays a part in the story, and it was interesting to learn about its myths and legends. Mason is an interesting character, as her family is shrouded in mystery in the beginning. She's a fencer, and it was refreshing to read about a main character that does something out of the norm in YA books. And Fennrys. Don't even get me started on Fennrys! I loved him so much! Even more than I did in the Wondrous Strange series. He has no idea who or what he is, but he is such a sweetheart. He cares for Mason, and you can just see him falling in love. I just think they have such great chemistry together. I had always wanted Fennrys to have a HEA, which he never got in the WS series, but now, with the Starling series, I'm hoping he'll get there someday with Mason.

There are parts here and there that are filled with fighting and action. While they're not the most amazing and exciting fighting sequences ever, they were still fun and engaging to read. The book ends on a cliffhanger, which was so angering! Pretty much the entire last part of the book was all action and suspense, which was highly entertaining. The whole book was a breeze to read. I just could not get enough of it! Especially Fennrys. So I'm very excited to get my hands on the next book!

I really enjoyed reading this much more than Lesley Livingston's Wondrous Strange series. Starling is a sort of off-shoot from WS, in case you didn't know, since Fennrys, the main character in Starling, was also a character in WS. So you should check out Wondrous Strange before reading Starling, though it's not completely necessary.
