I think some of the short stories would have been better suited to be included as flashbacks or memories in the novels themselves, but I did like some of the stories. I liked the flash forward to 2 years after Winter and I enjoyed getting to see more of Thorn and Winter’s backstories.

For the most part though, the stories felt like stuff I already knew, which got redundant.

I admit, I only read the last short story, which was Wolf and Scarlet’s wedding. I didn’t see the purpose of reading the other short stories when I could just skip to the gang getting their happy endings. My time with The Lunar Chronicles has finally, officially ended so I’m thinking of crying in a corner right now

AHHH my love for this series is ENDLESS. This book only cemented that fact. The characters are just so well written and wonderful and they have completely captured my heart. With that being said, did I think this collection of novella's was worth the read? Yes...and no. While I found the entire book to be enjoyable, the last half is what made it for me. I would rate the first half as three stars, and the last half as five! Honestly, the last four novella's were my favorites. We learned a lot from them: how Winter got her scars, how Kai felt on first meeting Cinder, etc. And the story that really took me by surprise was The Little Android. Going into this book, I thought it was about Iko and was a little disappointed when I realized it wasn't. But then I read the story and it's so BEAUTIFUL, about love and sacrifice. I found it be inspiring and heartbreaking and such a wonderful read. However, my favorite was obviously the last one. It's just so full of love and friendship and I CAN'T STAND IT. I found myself laughing and smiling as if visiting old friends. I loved this. Which isn't at all surprising.

Original Review: When I first heard about Stars Above being released, I got super excited! A book filled with more (short) stories in the Lunar Chronicles? Sign me the f up! So I anticipated the release of this book so so much, I actually even pre-ordered it. It arrived a couple of days before the official release date, which made me even more excited, and I immediately started reading it. Stars Above consist of a couple of short stories, some of which (Glitches, The Queen's Army, Carswell's Guide to Being Lucky and The Little Android) we already knew, but the rest were all completely new. Marissa Meyer had even announced there would be a wedding novella in this one, which was probably my favourite bit of news of them all. Every 'main' character gets their own short story; Cinder, Thorne, Scarlet, Wolf, Cress, Kai, Winter and Jacin and that made me so happy. I love all of these characters, maybe not equally, but they are certainly in my list of favourite characters of all time. I won't be talking about the stories that we already know, because we already know them. But the new stories are the main focus of this review. Those stories are The Keeper (about Michelle and Scarlet Benoit), After Sunshine Passes By (about little Cress), The Princess and the Guard (about Winter and Jacin), The Mechanic (Cinder and Kai's first meeting from Kai's perspective) and Something Old, Something New the epilogue to Winter with a WEDDING! I honestly just loved all of these new novella's equally, but Something Old, Something New is definitely my favourite. Because it just has all the characters in it, and of course there's the wedding. Naturally, I won't tell you whose wedding it is, but it wasn't the first (nor the second) pair that came to my mind. It was very cute and I just felt all the fuzzy warm feeling while reading this story. You might know this already, but I am not huge on romance, but these books made me ship all the ships and honestly the action was just as much there as the romance was. I think the series was as much romance as action, but I don't know I just loved it so much here that I wasn't that bothered by another pairing in each book, you know? All these pairings are just perfect and amazing and I love them so so much. (view spoiler)[Probably the best part was that there weren't any love triangles in this book; okay maybe you can call Levana-Cinder-Kai a sort of love triangle, but I honestly don't because Levana is a bitch and I don't want her anywhere near my babies. (hide spoiler)] As usual, Marissa Meyer's writing is amazing, and it just sucked me right into the book as if I'd never even left. I was a bit sad when I closed this book after finishing because that meant the story was finally over (although I believe she's just announced there are going to be graphic novels? Sign me the f up for that!), but I will probably reread and reread this series for the rest of my life! In the end, I loved Star Above so much; all of the stories were amazing. I loved rereading the ones I had already read, and I especially loved reading more new stories about the Lunar Chronicles world. If you love science fiction and fairytale retellings, you should seriously consider picking up the first book in this series, called Cinder! My opinion on this book in one gif:

Lots of really great back stories to the characters including a wedding between two of our favorites, but you'll have to read it for yourself to find out between who! Full review to be posted on my blog.

Made me remember how much I loved the Lunar Chronicles. This was a great chance for me to revisit my beloved characters after many years of separation. While I did find the stories of everyone's past interesting and while I did love hearing the characters' voices again as they touched on small details via short stories, I agree with other's opinions of how the stories didn't really offer anything substantial to the series. It was just a nice present for fans. Once again, my favorite character is Winter. Her short story was the most captivating for me but that is also because I love her childhood friends to lovers trope with Jacin & also her personal connection to Levana & going crazy due to the suppression of her power (an interesting contrast to Levana going crazy from using her powers too often) Also, can we appreciate how beautiful the cover art of this edition is fkdsjfaldjs

At least 35% of the book were short stories we´d read before (0,5-3,5) but there were some new, nice, hidden backstories too. My favorite, and the whole reason for this rating being 4 instead of 3 stars, was the last short "Something old, something new". It was so cute and wholesome, I couldn´t stop smiling while I read it

The Lunar Chronicles is such a beautiful series and words are not enough to express how much I love these books and how attached I am to this story, to the characters, and to the world Marissa Meyer has created. And now, it is officially the end. But Marissa ended it perfectly, I couldn't ask for more. I'm quite surprised by how fast I read this. I finished it in 2 days, which is really surprising considering I have tons of schoolwork. I guess this is just what happens when it's a favourite series (or book) I'm reading. (Lmao how biased). It's actually kind of a bad thing because I really wanted to prolong reading Stars Above because I didn't want it to end yet, but sighhh turns out I'd finish it in just 2 days. My top three favourite short stories would probably be The Queen's Army, The Little Android, and Something Old, Something New (!!!). I have to admit, I really didn't care about Wolf during the previous books. Mostly because he was pretty much useless and dangerous to the gang. But reading his story, The Queen's Army, made me feel sympathy towards his character. I really feel sorry for him, especially with all the circumstances he's been through in the previous books. Good thing he has Scarlet. (5/5) The Little Android was something I never thought I'd like so much. It was so sad! Mech6.0's story broke my heart even though it was just 45 pages! (5/5) And of course, Something Old, Something New. This short story is considered as an epilogue of this series and it was the perfect epilogue we could ever get! It was so nice seeing the gang altogether! I actually teared up when I read this story. All I can say is that I love it so so so so much!!!! (5/5) My ratings for the other short stories: The Keeper: 4/5 I really like Michelle Benoit. I really wish Cinder met her. :(( Glitches: 4/5 Carswell's Guide to Being Lucky: 3/5 After Sunshine Passes By: 3/5 The Princess and The Guard: 4/5 The Mechanic: 4.5/5 bc KAIDER!!! Overall rating: 4/5 I'm really going to miss this series a lot. TLC will always have a special place in my heart.<3

I've missed this Universe so much. I wished, more than anything, that we got an entire story just from Iko's POV because that android is hilarious. My three favorites were: After Sunshine Passes By (poor Cress), The Mechanic and Something Old, Something New. The little glimpses into my favorite character's past and that one beautiful look at their future, was everything that I expected to get from this collection. I wasn't particularly interested in The Little Android mainly because I had hoped it would have been Iko's story pre-Cinder but, alas, it was not. Carswell's story was neither here nor there for me either. I didn't realize how much I missed the interaction between the characters until I was almost through the final story and regretting reading it so quickly. Can I have more, please Marissa?

(I read this back in March/April but never updated on Goodreads.) Overall impression: meh. There were some fun stories in here (like the LAST ONE *heart eyes*), but overall, it felt a little lackluster. Then again, TLC isn't a favorite series of mine so I'm sure all you hardcore fangirls will love this. ;) 3 stars

A truly amazing collection. Meyer certainly saved the best story for last, "Something Old" had me tearing up, giggling, rolling on my bed, and squealing within several paragraphs at a time. (All I can say is, I hope this starts a trend in YA authors giving us more canon fluff stories). This book is a fantastic companion to the series, and it really helps you to understand the characters even more... not to mention growing even more attached to them and crying when you realize that it truly is over.
