I was wary of this one at first but it really captured my attention! Really great story about healing from a toxic relationship, with twists and turns. I loved the double perspective. The only reason it’s a 3.5 is bc it started out a little cheesy and I HATED the footnotes.

There are so many key points about a relationship turned toxic and what it takes to get out of that. To find yourself again. Deb does a fantastic job of grasping that concept. Her novel has such a powerful and truthful voice especially since it’s geared towards a younger audience.

I wasn't sure about the footnotes in this book - they seemed written by someone else, perhaps an older Clara and it seemed a bit off-putting. Also, the title is completely unmemorable. But get those minor issues aside, and it's a good read filled with drama and tension, yet remaining realistic. Added points for taking place in the PNW. 3.5 stars.
