Mila Gray’s “Stay With Me” is a spin-off of her book “Come Back To Me”. This book can be read as a stand-alone or as a continuation of the series. I loved being able to get a deeper look at Didi from “Come Back To Me”. “Stay With Me” does cover some difficult topics such as PTSD and suicide. If these are triggering topics for you this isn’t a book for you. However, I adored reading Didi’s and Walker’s story and if these topics are not sensitive to you I would highly recommend this book. 

“Stay With Me” follws Didi as she begins an internship at a military hospital. Here she meets Walker. Walker is a Lieutenant in the marines who was injured and blinded in battle and is frustrated and depressed. Didi and Walker quickly become friends and Didi helps him slowly gain a better out look on life. With Didi and Walker getting closer, romantic feelinghs develop. With Didi’s internship, she knows Walker is off limits. Will they be able to respect this and stay just friends? Find out in Mila Gray’s “Stay With Me”.

This military romance was so good. It was an amazing representation of what it's like for soldiers who've been in the war and the struggles they face. It was heartwrenching and brutal to read how Walker struggled to accept what happened and move on but at the same time it was amazing to see how Didi helped him find the light in his darkness.

So towards the end of the novel, one of the characters in the novel (not a MC) commits suicide and while reading I just couldn't understand why the author would add such a sad thing to an already heartbreaking novel, but later on I understood that this was the absolute best representation of what soldiers have to deal with after the war. Suicide rates among veterans are high and that is just another added thing for these people to deal with. The reality is just as heartbreaking as this book.
