Stealing Embers (Fallen Legacies Book 1)
Reviews

Such a fun read!

4.5! Emberly has been living her life on the streets as a homeless runaway, just trying to make it to the freedom of her 18th birthday. She's always known she was different- she can see a nightmarish spectrum world where there are monsters who hunt her. But she's always thought it's part of her imagination, or maybe that she's a little crazy... until the day she learns it's all real. She's captured and taken to a secret training academy for Nephilim- angel born warriors. And turns out, she's one of them. But her presence draws in the monsters she's been running from, and now she has to figure out her powers and save the only friends she's ever had. First off, I loved this book! It was fun, fast paced, and full of excellent characters! We've got Emberly, our MC, who gets her entire world turned upside down in a moment when she learns she's actually part of the Nephilim. I loved her. She grows a lot in the story, and I loved seeing her learn that she doesn't need to be on her own and that she can trust people. Then we've got Ash, Emberly's roommate and first friend. She's protective, loyal, and loving. And we've got the twins, Sterling and Grayson. I loved them and their humor, and how their whole group fit together. And we've got Nova, who breaks the jealous girl trope. And of course we have Steel. The broody, arrogant shape shifter who knows he's the best, but is also fiercely protective of his family. And aren't we all suckers for a dark haired, blue eyed, emotionally damaged love interest?? We get a great hate to not quite love romance started with this book, and I'm so interested to see where it goes! And I can't forget one of my favorite characters, Tinkle. He's such a funny character and I was laughing out loud at everything he said. Did I mention he's a talking squirrel? Well, sort of. This book has a fast paced plot full of adventure, danger, friendship, and a bit of romance. It hooked me in right away, and I am still personally victimized by the fact that it's over! I can't wait for more from this series!! Overall it's an excellent first book and I highly recommend it!!
