not the biggest fan of how her stories start like why it chapters one and both characters think about how hot they find each other like where’s the set up was genuinely so lost the first time i read this author’s books and thought it was because i didn’t start from book 1 and then saw the pattern repeat w the rest of her books in the series too

Rory Miller, what a man. I’m absolutely in love with everything about this book, especially compared to the first one—it has so much more depth. And let me just say, Rory’s character is a standout. He comes across as the classic bad boy, but deep down, he’s a soft marshmallow, and I love that contrast. The "let’s date to make my ex jealous" trope? *Chef’s kiss*. It’s so petty, but honestly, I’m here for it, and everyone should take a page out of Hazel’s book. The tension between Rory and Hazel is electric, and the chemistry? Absolutely on point. Every moment between them was executed to perfection, and their dynamic just feels so real. This book is easily my favorite hockey romance of all time. It checks all the boxes and then some—completely exceeded my expectations!

After reading Behind the Net I was so excited to see their story! I LOVE Hazel so much!! I relate to her so much. I’m an absolute sucker for fake dating romance and she did this one SO well! I absolutely devoured this book in a day. Still thinking about this days later. The banner between Hazel and Rory is so well written. Hazels is a physio for the Vancouver Storm hockey team, when her (gross) ex Conner gets traded to the team and assigned to her she decides to start faking dating her least favorite star hockey player to make him jealous… You have to read the book to find out the rest but i promise is 1000% worth the read!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶️🌶️🌶️.75

This book has two really bizarre themes in it that I’ve decided ain’t my cup of tea

- Super weird undertones of rawr don’t hurt my cubs this mumma/pappa bear is angry 😤 

- The two main characters exclusively call each other by their last names, and it’s giving bro & champ and awkward relationship energy and I HATED IT. Don’t call your girlfriend by her last name when she is doing the naked tango with you OR WHEN YOU ARE PROPOSING?? w t f

I am SO glad I picked up this book! I liked Behind The Net but I wasn't really convinced about the author because the book didn't catch me like I hoped it would. The second now tho was amazing! It was so good I loved every minute of it.

He was such an interesting and loveable character and I loved Hartley's personality. Even the family dynamics were interesting even tho I wish we saw even more. The teasing of Owens and Darcy was so interesting as well and I can't wait to start their book!

The constant communication to avoid misunderstandings was so good and not boring at all. It was such a fun read I didn't need fights, stupid break ups for no reason or tension were it doesn't belong. I was fully entertained even if they acted like responsible adults.

It was by far my favorite sports romance of the year. I know it's only April so I'm excited to see if maybe the third book will top it for me because I can smell the drama brewing but I honestly don't think any book of hers will top this one for me. It was perfect.

First, thank you to Stephanie Archer’s team for sending me the ARC for this book! This is my honest review. 

Themes and tropes:
- fake dating
- he falls first and harder
- hockey romance
- high school past

First of all. Rory Miller. God he’s so perfect. He is THE romance book boyfriend, don’t think I’ve read any others that compare. I appreciate that the conflict that both characters were feeling felt realistic and their reactions to it for the most part at least were justified.

Hazel’s relationship with her mum was very relatable and I appreciated the inclusion of that discourse. I think Rory and Hazel’s banter and flirting was what made this book, it was just so fun and enjoyable.

In my personal opinion, I do think the plot got away a **little** at the end but I didn’t mind too much. I could’ve done without a couple of the steamier scenes but that’s honestly just personal preference.

A perfectly funny, enjoyable, and emotional hockey romance that you should definitely pick up!

hockey romance, sweet, spicy, funny, heartwarming and everything in between, i loved it and i recommend it to everyone!
