I love literary mysteries with unlikeable characters. This should have worked for me, but just didn’t. I can’t put my finger on why, except to say that the characters seemed very one-dimensional.

Okay. This one definitely stressed me out, but I also couldn't put it down. Locust Lane is a disturbing depiction of a very plausible, real life tragedy turned small town cover up.

Overall, I don’t quite know how to feel about this book. It has a lot about society, culture, and people that just plain sucks. And while I couldn’t put it down and found it incredibly compelling, I’m not sure how to rate or totally feel about a story that causes me acute stress and that kind of ends without being resolved morally and with justice being totally serviced… hey maybe there will be a book 2? 😅

But I also understand all of that is probably kind of the point. It’s truly an exploration of small town justice, power and influence in what appears to be the perfect little affluent town.

I loved the pace and multiple POVs. It’s was gripping and page turning. And I didn’t see the twist coming. It was unassuming and lowkey chilling.
