this book is just so fun!! reminds me a lot of a certain hunger with winnifred’s narration style and emphasis on certain things, but truly such a neat use of an unreliable narrator and just a girl being a freak

Tre stelle e mezzo perché, da un lato, ho un debole per questo tipo di libri e tendo a essere di manica larga; dall’altro, ho trovato l’esecuzione pigra.

Victorian Psycho vuole essere sfrontato, grottesco, disturbante fino alla nausea, ma lo fa in maniera davvero scontata.

Tirando le somme, è un libro che passa senza lasciar nulla. Vuole essere una satira sociale? Mah. Una rivendicazione femminista? Bah.

Gli stessi riferimenti vittoriani non sono niente di che, e la stragrande maggioranza dei lettori li può cogliere con grande facilità. Un esempio? Non bisogna essere un esperto del periodo o di storia della letteratura per sapere cos’è un penny dreadful; basta aver visto o per lo meno sentito parlare della serie tv.

It was fine but I am not convinced that wave pop horror is really for me. Left with a distinct feeling that this was meant to be a fun film rather than a novel - one of today's literature's most common afflictions - I cannot say that it wasn't quick to read. It just wasn't all that great.

By the way, what's up with higher social classes always having the upper hand even in the fictional wish-fulfilment narratives we have been writing? And without it serving any real thematic purpose? What are we doing?
