This one took some time to get through. I think there were too many voices. I really just wanted to hear from Jade and Letha. One or two others might have been fine, like Hardy and the one writing the reports. But having SO MANY narrators really bogged down the narrative. Don't get me wrong, I'm still reading everything he writes. I just wanted this to be snappier. The action was well-done and everything having to do with Jade and Letha was great. They're really the soul of this trilogy and I will always love them.

Warier and more weathered then the first, which is a great development and very honest to who Jennifer is now. Still raw and bloody with a heartfelt core. 

There was an undercurrent of this desperate grief in the wake of the lake witch always, but the book keeps running, and never lets the sadness entirely catch up. Masterful dynamic
