The Theory of Everything is a book written by Stephen Hawking, one of the most renowned physicists of our time. It is an autobiographical account of his life, work, and theories. Hawking's book has been widely read, and it has been praised as a masterpiece by some. However, my personal experience with the book has been mixed. In this review, I will provide a brief summary of the book and share my thoughts on it.

Hawking's Life and Work

The book starts with Hawking's early life and education, his diagnosis of ALS, and his love life. Hawking then goes on to discuss his work in physics, including his contributions to the study of black holes and the development of the Big Bang theory. Hawking's writing is clear and concise, which makes it easy for readers who may not be familiar with physics to understand his theories. However, I found some parts of the book to be quite technical and difficult to follow.

The Strengths and Weaknesses of the Book

One of the strengths of The Theory of Everything is that it provides a unique perspective on the life and work of one of the most influential physicists of our time. Hawking's writing style is engaging and witty, and his personal anecdotes add depth to the book. However, I found some parts of the book to be quite dry and repetitive, and I struggled to maintain my interest in those sections.

Another weakness of the book is that it does assume some prior knowledge of physics. While Hawking does an excellent job of making complex concepts accessible to the layperson, there are still some parts of the book that may be difficult to follow for those who do not have a basic understanding of physics.

Overall, I would give The Theory of Everything a 3 out of 5 star rating. While the book has its strengths, it also has some weaknesses that prevent it from being a truly outstanding read. If you are interested in physics, then I would recommend giving the book a read. However, if you are looking for a more general autobiography, then this may not be the book for you.

Using that as a launching pad, he explores the reaches of modern physics, including theories on the origin of the universe (e.g., the big bang), the nature of black holes, and space-time.

The Theory Of Everything (With Cd)

Some ideas were well explained, others were a bit complex to understand and could have been better delivered and exemplified. This coming from a computer engineer which has some knowledge in physics. I can hardly imagine what a "common mortal" must feel.

Note that the portuguese translation might be at fault, but I doubt it.
