The ability to write truly amazing short stories is a beautiful craft that many popular writers don't possess. There is a magic that good short stories have that novels lack and Stephen King knows how to capture that magic. This is a short story that I frequently return to and it always makes my day. I try to get my friends who are smokers to read it but they never do because I imagine this story is a truly horrible read for someone that smokes.
