I came across this book because I got a free copy of it in exchange of an honest review and after I got it I completely forgot about it. It was only 8 months later that I decided to read it. This is a little treasure trunk. Stephen Wolfram is what Leonardo da Vinci would have been if he had a laptop. The intellectual hunger Wolfram has is unparallel. And is not only his curiosity a thing I find fascinating, but his ability to execute. That is the 1st takeaway. My 2nd takeaway is the fact that Wolfram found at a very young age what he loved. Physics, mathematics and programming became his way to build anything. Literally, anything. This book is filled with essays already published on this blog, but is only reading all of them that you get to peak into his methods of thinking, working, executing and delivering. Amongst my favourite articles I can highlight: - How to communicate who we are to an alien entity? - Ways of working and live streaming meetings - The challenges to find a suitable name for his programming language - AI ethics - How to name functions? - Personal analytics (one article that hit close to home, since I’m crazy about measuring my stats) I truly think this man is a genius. He’s prolific, able to execute with a long term vision and has the ability to learn, absorb and contextualize complex concepts in order to build things that ultimately, will advance our species. The only down side to what Stephen Wolfram is doing is how closely he works on each element his company(ies) releases. I guess this is a place where the “lone genius” could deeply disrupt the way of working once he is gone 2 really cool links I found during my rabbit hole trips were this Reddit AMA and this
