An extremely interesting view into a world very badly misunderstood. The people involved in this book are fantastic and the level of skill is amazing.

Minus points for intermittent exclamations of squeamishness that were quite dramatic and detracted from the overall passionate commitment and credibility that her interviewees were trying to establish, but an otherwise fascinating peek into an eccentric, closed world, behind doors most will not look into. There is a lot of information that is worth looking up, and there are many sections, especially the details of the process of taxidermy and its regional competitions, that are very interesting to the curious and Milgrom deserves credit for carefully writing it down for her audience, looking up the dazzling number of species of animals she has encountered, and documenting her own experience preparing a squirrel.
