I felt like this book was a follow-up to The Power of Now. I don't think I would have understood it if I hadn't read The Power of Now first, however, because I did, I loved it. I wouldn't recommend it to someone who hasn't read into spiritual enlightenment first though.

I liked this one, because there was a space left for meditation and reflection about anything that was said. It was a collection of Buddhist inspired little wisdoms presented in a western way of putting words. Not that bad at all.
"Attention is primordial intelligence."
It gave me a few ideas about how can I overcome preparing my words as my interlocutor tries to speak and expresses himself. I still have a hard time trying to unwire from the defensive mode of communication.
Stillness in this way is going beyond thoughts (not ignoring thoughts), your gift back to your interlocutor would be a bit of awareness, a slice of your present now.
Now according to the author isn't just this moment, or place but is the space which contains your consciousness. Nothing exists out of the present, both past and future are mere illusions (hence the need to really stop dwelling on your أطلال) Even considering the now as a means towards a future goal or objective is another way of undermining your stillness with an egoistic take on life. Surrender to the present, go beyond the reactive stance towards life, to "accept" or "not accept" what it gives you. In this same perspective, I recall a thing that was stuck in my mind through all these year, and that is whenever something I labeled as "bad" happened to me, I used to ask myself, why me? After coming across some book, I tried to ask myself Why not me? Instead...
I particularly loved the section about death, and how every ending is a small death, and that accepting and welcoming endings is a process a daily little deaths that opens oneself to life. Life has no opposite...

a short, to the point rephrasing of eons of wisdom and theological thought with a primarily eastern flavor. still, like all books of aphorisms (which is really what this is) it's good to have around to jar the mind from time to time.
