I feel like this had the potential to be more but half way through the story fell flat. I could see from a mile away that (view spoiler)[Grandfather Russel killed Billy Grimmer (hide spoiler)], why it took that long for 3 grown women to figure that out is beyond me. They chastised teen centred books and then they did the same if not worse. I had a problem as well with how the story was written. Many times I didn't realise the pov was changed.

🎧︎Suddenly Psychic fed my need for an interesting,  fun, fast paced and laugh out loud read.  It begins the story of three friends in their forties who developed psychic abilities after surviving a near fatal accident.  Suspense, mystery and danger abound in this the first book in a trilogy. 


SUMMARY

🎧︎Suddenly Psychic introduces best friends Robin, Val and Monica. The women are at different stages in their lives. Robin operates an antique shop is married with two children and a husband who works from home. Val is divorced and dealing with a selfish and immature ex-husband, while Monica is  recently widowed. They each have their share of issues and were going through the motions of their normal, mundane and unfulfilled life. One night in bid to cheer up Monica on her birthday, (the first without her husband), and to take a break from their unfulfilled lives, they went out to have some fun, but instead they ended up at the bottom of Glimmer Lake. They came away unscathed, but ended up with newfound abilities that brought unexpected changes to their lives. 

My Views
This book was so much fun, it pulled me in and kept me engaged to the end. The story delivered a mix of mystery, suspense, paranormal events and personal growth. It was fun getting to know the characters. Robin and her friends were a hoot. I loved the friendship the women shared. Down to earth and authentic. 

The installment focuses on Robin and her ability to see ghosts. It's this ability that placed she and her friends in the middle of a cold case murder investigation. Although the focus was on Robin  it was the combined abilities of the three women that helped to unearth the truth. The ladies made a great team of investigators. Throughout the course of the investigation, Robin learns interesting and disturbing things about a family member.

I had the mystery all figured out from early in the story. However, despite the predictability of the case I still enjoyed watching it all unfold. The series is off to a great start and I am looking forward to what's next in store for these ladies.


Readers who enjoy urban fantasy, cozy mysteries and women's fiction will get a kick out of Suddenly Psychic.

Narration
Ava Lucas did a wonderful job with the Narration. She did a great job with all the voices. Her tone for the male and female voices were on point.  Her voices for each of the characters were distinct. 


Michelle Boyea

This book was slow at the beginning but was incredible once it picked up. I love the psychic abilities aspect and the way that it came about. 

I enjoyed watching the relationships develop and the tenacity to solve the old crime, even when it involves family. 

For some reason, I kept mixing up the three ladies names. Not sure why as they are not similar, but that did throw me off at times.
