Rafe Stryker is one of those men who are so much more than meets the eye. I mean, sure, the eyes see this tall, dark, and handsome man, but he also comes off as grumpy and cold. Discovering the many layers to Rafe was a delight. He surprised me and I didn’t think I’d love him as much as I did. I liked that he was determined to show everyone that he was not what he seemed to portray. Maybe he just wanted to prove us wrong, which would be prove he always has to come out on top. Now Heidi I already liked. The girl with the goats who lives on a mountain with her grandpa had already been introduced to us in previous Fool’s Gold books, so liking her was not a problem. If I lived in Fool’s Gold though, I’d probably be wearing my Team Rafe button. Sorry, Heidi! But Rafe was totally in the right in this situation. Her grandpa did swindle money from his mom and all. I anything, I felt Heidi should’ve been a lot more angry at her grandfather! With that being said, I did enjoy this book overall. It had that same Fool’s Gold quirk and charm. I’m really intrigued to see what the other Stryker brothers have in store for us. While this book is part of the Fool’s Gold series, and some characters we love do make appearances, you could completely jump into it and not be lost or feel like it’s missing something. So, if you’ve been thinking of trying out this series but don’t want to read the first six (which I suggest you do because I love them), here’s your chance!
