I can’t decide between 3 or 4 stars. Overall I enjoyed the book. I enjoyed reading about their vacations, seeing their relationship evolve and the characters. However, the vacation causing their relationship to change was disappointing.

As someone who’s not really a romance reader… I think I’d still rather watch this than read it 😅 Cute story, but spicy scenes are just not my thing 🙈 Even if the trope isn’t original, I really connected with Poppy—especially that quiet need to leave where you came from and prove you’ve become something more. And this part just hit me: “Suddenly we’re not kids anymore, and it feels like it happened overnight, so fast I didn’t have time to notice, to let go of everything that used to matter so much, to see that the old wounds that once felt like gut-level lacerations have faded to small white scars, mixed in among the stretch marks and sunspots and little divots where time has grazed against my body. I’ve put so much time and distance between myself and that lonely girl, and what does it matter? Here is a piece of my past, right in front of me, miles away from home. You can’t outrun yourself. Not your history, not your fears, not the parts of yourself you’re worried are wrong.”

My very first Emily Henry book, and I’ve enjoyed it! It was such a fun, cute and easy read. Poppy and Alex have a cutesy and great chemistry as best friends and eventually become a couple. I loved their chaotic and fun friendship during those past flashback chapters so much. Emily Henry gave us the idea of how their friendship came to be and how/when they fell in love with each other. Such a nice way to read the story. The friends-to-lovers trope is so special and intimate. The one thing I disliked was the miscommunication, but it was soon resolved near the end of the book, which was great! And I also watched the movie, and I loved it! Romance-Comedy at its finest. One of the best book-to-movie adaptations. Tom Blyth and Emily Bader’s chemistry was brilliant. They are perfect as Alex and Poppy. Oh, to have what they have. Yearning for each other throughout the movie, the pull they both have. They’re like two magnets that can’t help to be attracted to one another, no matter how hard they deny it. Overall, I’ve enjoyed watching the movie and reading the book! It made me smile and laugh all over again.

why was i crying during this book? i kept putting off reading it because i knew it was going to be an angsty read from emily henry, and i was not wrong. it's hilarious, henry just knows exactly how to do banter, but everything else about the book that wasn't banter, was like henry was stabbing my heart over and over again but i didn't want her to stop.

Oh. My. God. Where to even begin? Did I read the book because I had to watch Tom Blyth on Netflix? Yes, yes I did. And you know what? I have NO regrets. PWMOV is one of those books that touches some fibers and rearranges your perspective. I had heard a lot of my friends say they related to Poppy (which, in some ways I do) but for me, Alex is the character that’s closest to my heart. As an oldest sister, there is nothing I wouldn’t do for my siblings, and I’ve learned about sacrifices for a very long long time. But more than that, he’s sweet and caring and loving, and I loved that it’s ok to be a little lost and a little scared of the future. And their relationship? Gosh, it also hit too close to home. Definitely give it a try.

Cute, cozy, and very readable, but it didn’t fully sweep me off my feet. People We Meet on Vacation is a friends-to-lovers romance about Poppy and Alex, two total opposites who build their friendship through a tradition of taking one vacation together every year. Something happens that breaks the rhythm, they stop speaking, and the story follows them as they try to retrace the past trips and finally face what went wrong and what they actually mean to each other. It’s classic Emily Henry in terms of vibe: witty dialogue, charming travel settings, and that warm, nostalgic feeling of looking back at “the moments that made us.” I loved the concept and the structure, jumping between vacations, because it makes the relationship feel layered and earned. For me, though, it was a solid enjoy, not a full-on obsession. I liked the banter and the chemistry, but parts of the pacing felt a bit slow and I didn’t feel as emotionally hooked as I wanted to be. Still, it’s a sweet, easy romance that’s perfect if you want something light with a little heart.

Alex, y'all, I just love that man, I found him so relatable and also so freaking sweet. 

It is true that maybe together, they might not make sense, but I think that is on the surface. After reading them together and how they make each other the best and truest version of each other, you can't help but want them together.

It is not a full 5 stars because I think towards the end it became a bit rushed the whole thing.

sooo long. i loved it. poppy is so my girl, i love her so much and Alex, needless to say, has become my man goal. anyway, the story is great once you get into it. i had to get past 200 pages for that but you have to be patient in life.

YOUCH! it is very hard to be nonchalant about this book because it touched a part of my soul that i didn't think could be seen by anyone else. emily henry gets it. she really does! i think i am always going to be forever changed knowing this book exists in this world, and i can pick it up anytime. the movie adaptation is really going to kill me i think.

I preferred Beach Read, but this does some interesting things narrative-wise with its timeline and is funny and touching in places. The thing that I struggle with in this and other romance novels that aren’t historical or romantasy is that the tensions and obstacles that the characters face are generated by them being obtuse or childish, so they come across as caricatures and I don’t feel as invested in their story.

I think that was really well done, and made me want to keep reading to keep finding out little tidbits about their friendship and why it fell by the wayside.

This one is definitely a slow burn, almost a little too much of a slow burn, which is the only reason it wasn't a 5 ⭐ read for me. 

Overall enjoyable, emotional, and wrapping up with a satisfying ending 🩷
